Can't win th Calder if you can't play and Who says Kane's success isn't because of Pan?

 

I'm too lazy to find them, but I'm pretty sure Panarin's numbers without Kane are abysmal. They're somewhere in the Calder discussion thread on HF if anyone is willing to brave those moronic waters.

That's certainly a trend to watch, but since Panarin plays with Kane like ~90% of the time, it's hard to draw many solid conclusions.

 

True, but when I say abysmal, I mean fucking abysmal. Like, makes-John-Scott-look-like-an-actual-All-Star absymal.

In any case, Ghost Bear (which is the best nickname in all of sports) for Calder.

the Calder should go to Joonas Donskoi because he is amazing and gets absolutely no love at all

Obviously I'm a Hawks fan but I definitely think Panarin should get the Calder, including the above arguments for how he's improved Kane's game as well, even though he shudders at being called a rookie. Honestly haven't watched enough of Ghost Bear to say definitively but sounds convincing enough.

 

Can't believe that I have to resort to rooting for the Flyers. Ehh, let's go Ghostbear.

 

I haven't been following for a super long time especially when it comes to awards. Has there been a year where there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the awards?

I see a lot of controversy surrounding Calder, Vezina and Norris coming from everywhere I read.

 

Calder and Norris, yes. Holtby has to be a lock for the Vezina right?

 

I really wish I made my username Ghost Bear when I signed up here. What a missed opportunity. That's seriously the coolest nickname in the world. It'd also be a great name for like a folky mathy indie band - basically like if Ghost Mice and Minus the Bear had a baby. The possibilities are endless.

 

100%. Media members all seem to be in consensus on it as well.

 

There is, however, some discussion around the Masterton for the first time ever, thanks to class act Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News

 

Playing with Kane is a huge help for Panarin, but he's been good enough for me to overlook that. However, he's 24 and played in the KHL for like 5 years. To me, someone like that shouldn't win the Calder even if there isn't a rule against it.
