dunno if this is even a contentious opinion that enough people care about but I enjoy The Maine's efforts to ape Tom Petty far more than Taking Back Sunday's

I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but I feel like everyone needs at least one band and/or movie that is objectively shit, but they like anyway.

 

That's why I love Adam Sandler movies so much.

To keep us all grounded.

 

Really though. It's hard to ever feel like you have better taste than anyone else when you like Aqua and the entire Brave Little Toaster trilogy. I think liking something shitty is just good common ground.

 

I have impeccable taste everything I like is good

I don't know taste is subjective, like I find Red Hot Chili Peppers jokes hilarious, Abradabacalifornia is amazing, but they're still the band that got me into music , there's no such thing as guilty pleasures

 

I don't believe in guilty pleasures. I feel no guilt for my shitty taste. I'm just saying, there's definitely an objective side to art (like, Nickelback is bad, but also massively popular). But I don't think the objective should take from the subjective enjoyment ever. And I think enjoying an objectively bad thing is a good check for the ego or whatever.
