You can get them via MyNintendo rewards. Or just finishing coins (for the first time) in rally.

I have mine at 99 for a while now lol.

having a lot of fun with Super Mario Run. but I was a little let down by the "build your mushroom kingdom". I didn't know much about what they promoted it as, but I thought it was a mode that was like Simpsons Tapped Out, but Mario. it's still cool, but not as fun as I thought that part would be.

Nice! You have about 100 must play 3DS and DS games to get. Haha

Check out the Capcom sale in the eShop, really good deals on the Monster Hunter and Phoenix Wright games.

Such a great version of an already great game. Recently finished my eleventh play through, so I still find it pretty easy.

I haven't played this in years, so that's probably part of it

Just finished the game (all stars, etc) with DLC. I'll probably skip out on the hat collecting. Enjoyed it a lot, although the DLC didn't really add that much to the game (the new character was awesome though).

Still thinking about what to play next, it's either Ocarina of Time or Codename Steam. Or Bayonetta 2.

I think so. I'm sure a deal will happen again soon, especially post-holidays.

Am I the only one who went through Super Mario Run thinking the black coins were green?

Same, I was confused when people started referencing "Black coins" at first...

Is anyone in this thread going to try to get the Switch at release? I've gotten every major Nintendo home console as it's been released, but after the Wii U, I'm not too sold on it yet.

Wii U was a nightmare to try to connect online when it first came out. For some reason you couldn't just connect to WiFi. Instead you had to enter in the routing number from a computer, the IP address, the subnet mask, etc. Not to mention, the online Friends system that Nintendo has is still awful and not modern at all. I was hoping they would change it away from the "friend code" thing, but Super Mario Run still has it, so I'm not sure.

After a couple of years of owning it, I probably only bought five games for it and then a few months ago, I tried playing Smash Bros and the whole console died. It told me it had a "System Memory Error" and goes black when I try turning it on. Makes me extremely hesitant to shell out another $300 for a new console, especially since it looks like at the moment most of the first wave releases are going to be remade ports from the last generation.

I feel your frustration 100%. My perspective on it is mostly to wait and see until the event on the 12th, mainly for the price point. If it comes at $200-$250 and Breath of the Wild is confirmed for launch day, I'll get it Day One. No question. It's worth it for Breath of the Wild alone, not even to mention the new 3D, Super Mario 64-style Mario game they teased. If the price is more than $250 (which it shouldn't be, considering those leaked specs), or Breath of the Wild isn't coming on launch day for some reason, then I'll have to see about what kind of games the thing is getting at launch and during the first year.

Speaking of the leaked specs, I should say that I could not care less about the specs of a Nintendo console. I'm not buying/playing a Nintendo console for power, (I have a PS4 and an Xbox One for that); I'm buying it to play Nintendo games. As long as the Switch is the only place to play Nintendo games, I'll own one, warts and all. But I'm not one to defend Nintendo's bullshit either, re: friend codes, the total abandonment of the Wii U, the lack of third-party support for their last two consoles, their shitty artificial scarcity with the amiibos and NES Classic, etc. I just love their games and always have.

I'm with you on all of that, but swap out the Zelda game for Mario Kart. haha. They haven't even really talked about a new Mario Kart game aside from teasing the relaunch of Mario Kart 8, so if they announce that, I'm in. I'm also curious about the pricing since some people think the $250 is the wholesale price (I think the UK agreed to match that anyway?). I'm like their target customer though: I see a Mario game that I want, and I'll go right out and buy it up regardless of price or details.

I totally agree about the specs/power of the console. I never pay attention to that for Nintendo systems because that's not what they're good at. They make games with high replay value regardless of graphic quality (just look at Super Mario Run which is more fun than most PS4 games I've bought). They've just finally hit a point with me with all the other stuff you mentioned where they are very obviously not keeping up with the times. So many of their games could have kept being money makers if they would have kept up with DLC - whether free or paid - but they just decided to start working on a new console instead. My Wii U crashing completely after having it for just 3 years or so was just a fitting end to the console.

I don't remember this being the case at all. I had it on launch day and it just worked for me.

I agree with all the other complaints though, specifically that I've had it for like 4 years now and only own about 6 games for it (3D world, Nsmbu, mk8, smash, wind waker hd, Mario maker, and I guess nintendoland if that counts). And I don't feel like I'm missing out on any big games other than Splatoon, which I don't really have a good enough internet connection for. The lack of support for that thing was really disappointing.

You missed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Might be the Wii U GOAT.

I really didn't like Returns, is it that much different?

Returns is awesome. Currently sitting at 97% completion. Haven't played the sequel but I've only heard good things (but also more of the same).

If you didn't like Returns, I would say you will also not like Tropical Freeze. Unless the reason why you didn't like Returns was the Wii controls, because Tropical Freeze fixed those.
