I didn't like either movie but who cares if you did, right? glad people do like them, and honestly wish I could.

I should also watch the Evil Dead remake. Really that bad, eh?

I'm currently watching the Bills game and that's like its own brand of horror

I don't think it's bad at all. Some of the possession stuff veers too close to The Exorcist rather than Evil Dead, but it has some interesting ideas and some great gore. I want to check out the extended cut.

this might be borderline spoilerish, but it ruins nothing for the film.... Evil Dead isnt a remake, it is a direct continuation in the series.

Man The Wailing is excellent. Just overall extremely un settling, and creepy in the best way.

Surprised it hasn't been talked about more on here. I absolutely loved it.

Haha I was only compelled to say something because I noticed it out of a few different people. It's all basically symantics anyway.

It's not really tied to the original in any way, though they were planning on tying the two together by having a movie with Ash & Mia

There were two subtle nods that I remember, one being a quick glimpse of Ash's broken down car all rusted out. And then there was the after credits scene. So I was probably out of line saying a direct continuation, but it's still definitely not a remake

I did not realize that about the newer Evil Dead. I just added it to the list and kept going.

Jess is such an underrated character. She should be talked about with the greats imo!!!! her

got It Follows, The Witch, and The Lobster for Christmas

I know The Lobster isn't technically a horror film but it's still pretty damn horrific to me haha

The remake celebrates its 10th anniversary today. (Why it was released on Christmas, giving it a one-day shelf life, is a whole different discussion.) It's terrible as a remake of a classic film, but I think it's bonkers, mean-spirited slasher that feels like it was lifted from the late '80s - and I say that endearingly. Fun cast and cool Christmas-y lighting to boot.

When I watched Six Feet Under I was like hmm I could work in a morgue, and now I'm watching The Autopsy of Jane Doe and realize that nope it's creepy and I cant. Nothing has even happened yet. I just can't stand looking at the body. they opened her eyes and just left them open and I'm like byyyyye 5ever

Friend Request is probably the best horror movie I've seen since It Follows. I went in with low expectations and it totally surprised me.

It's not quite as great as It Follows, but it's up there imo. I'd probably give It Follows a 9/10 and Friend Request an 8/10, just to give you some idea of how I'd rank them. It's worth a watch anyway, even if you don't end up liking it as much as I do.

i'll just go into it like you did haha. I'll let ya know what I think. fwiw: I thought it looked like it had a lot of potential but that they would probably fuck it up.

Going into it I thought it'd be one of those films that's so bad it's hilarious. Surprisingly enough, it's actually really well directed, the actors are great and the pacing is fantastic too. There were many genuinely creepy moments that really put me on edge. That hasn't happened to me since I watched It Follows, which is one reason why I like this movie so much. I hope you enjoy it, will be interested to know what you think!

Watched the black Christmas remake and... Well, it's not a good remake by any stretch, but some of the cinematography is stylish enough particularly with primary color tinting and the geography of the house and how it enabled and punished voyeurism was occasionally cool. The gore is so absurd and the killer origin story unnecessary that it sits somewhere between "eh" and "nah" though. The random eye fetish and fucking yellow skin lol it was too much
