Thought I wanted to post in this thread and just saw movie fans ruining movies and Star Wars fans ruining Star Wars. So...about right

 

Saw this yesterday, it was enjoyable but still found TFA to be more entertaining. And I agree regarding the criticism of character development in this. I'm still up for more anthology movies down the line.

Finally got to see it today. I really enjoyed it a lot.

Hm. I think a nitpick is fussing over Vader accusing the Rebels of intercepting Death Star plans in A New Hope when here they clearly just steal them. Maybe there's a bit of that here but some issues have been clearly argued or critiqued in earnest depth, particularly the CGI and character/film issues. And those who just enjoy the movie have been fine saying so, I think.

 

yeah for real. there's been more than enough earnest fandom. there's been critique on fair issues. very little out and out unfair critiques over trivial issues.

 

How did ponda boba and dr evazan make it off jedha before it blew up?

 

I would have to assume they were heading for their shuttle after they ran into Jyn. Or they fled when the rebel attack happened?

 

I guess either of those are implied, but someone brought that up to me and it did seem odd

 

Just played the Scarif DLC and it was obviously modeled after the films original ending. You have to grab the Death Star plans and make it to the extraction point to get picked up by a ship. Felt strange not trying to take them to some tower with a satellite.

 

It's def not answered in the movie. But I don't think we need to see everything happen in a movie.

Like, we didn't see Kylo Ren leave Statkiller Base, but he did.

 

I don't think it's an enormous flaw or anything, just thought it was bizarre

 

Their appearance? Agreed. That's one nod I could have done without.

 

We didn't see C-3PO or R2 board Tantive IV , but somehow they did.

Absolutely hated TFA and wasn't even really planning on seeing this but ended up getting dragged to it and actually really enjoyed it.

 

I mean, I don't necessarily agree that it's nitpicking to criticize the ending of the film for bungling the handoff to A New Hope when they made a conscious effort to ensure this film ended exactly before that film begins. But I don't know, guess it must be.

 

Nothing like dismissing legitimate criticism of the movie by calling it nitpicking.

3po's line could have been something better than "scarif?! They're going to scarif?!" ...like, really? That's what they came up with ?

 

It's a pretty quintessentially 3po line, haha, imo. That said, I would've been alright if they didn't show up at all, or if they did, he wasn't given any lines

 

Liked this more the second time. I think the ending is pretty great. Get rid of cgi tarkin and forest Whitaker and I wouldn't have much to complain about.

 

Picked up the novelization of this on Audible. Enjoyed it. It gives you more detail on pretty much every character, especially Bodie.
