i don't like pop-punk. I used to love pop-punk. a lot of my favorite bands are pop-punk bands. but my favorite songs by those pop-punk bands are usually their rock songs. with that said, i really hope blink becomes a rock band and not a pop-punk band. The untitled album had them being a rock band. +44 Had them being a rock band. AVA is a rock band. California returned to Pop-punk and I think it's a weak genre of music to play in 2016/17

 

The album seems really well received and therefore I wouldn't call that a weak album. Maybe it's just not what you into. I really like this record, minus the joke songs, and it's ok to write craggy songs that get stuck in people's heads. Considering the long hiatus, and then a member change I think I'm even more impressed with this album, the amount of songs, Siba, the production matching the record California vibe, and all of that.

 

Blink is one of my favorite bands ever but I agree that as a whole I don't like pop punk.

 

I still listen to a ton of classic pop punk and there's been a few releases over the last couple of years that I've gotten into (including California) but really I just want Blink to do what they want. FWIW, I think Cali is quite better than Neighborhoods. But, if they were able to pull off something darker and more experimental with Matt I would be way happy with that too.

 

I'm fine with anything these guys put out, I was not disappointed.

Though a Crimson/Untitled like album would be awesome

 

Why does Blink need to be darker and more experimental? I think songs like San Diego, Sober, and Home Is Such A Lonely place are a little more serious already.

Mark, Travis and Matt have lots of projects among them to experiment and be dark in (Alk 3, Matt Skiba and the Sekrets, any of Travis Hip Hop projects, and son on). Can't Blink be their more pop punk outlet?

 

Probably because most of us are a little older and would enjoy an album that felt overall like something more than a summer nostalgia album.

I think that's what Tom was doing before he released that solo album and he only read 1min of comments

Wtf hadn't seen this, I was going to ask what wasn't real about it til I clicked to the YouTube link. Can't believe it's not Tom, this would've been the best non-blink thing he did since I-Empire haha.

 

Isn't that song from an actual band that writes "original" music? So weird and creepy when people try to sound exactly like someone else and even write songs that sound identical.
