There was a lot of snickering in the theater when they first showed Tarkin, it seemed to take people out of the movie. The first question my wife asked after the movie was "Why was that old guy computer animated, was he supposed to be an alien or something?"

    Hi, I'm Negan ;)

Anyone else in tears at the end of this movie? My step dad who is 50, was crying at the end (for a good 2 mins) and said it was the best Star Wars he's ever seen.

The stuff between Jyn and Galen got me a little misty eyed. Though now that I have daughters, any father daughter tragedy in a movie gets me pretty choked up.

I like to think somewhere in the universe there is a large alien construct like the Death Star or a Halo or a Dysonsphere.

I kind of like that the plot for ROTJ was stated in this movie.

During the council meeting. Someone said, "what if it's a trap to lure out our whole fleet to destroy it?" Which is literally the plot for ROTJ. So that dude was right, he was just a bit early.

I need a refresher course of all the character names, and how they're properly spelled. Anyone want to help?

Like Donnie Yen's character name, and his comrade's escape me. Their death scenes were easily my favorite part of the movie. When Yen's character died, and his comrade started praying the same prayer whilst going ham on those storm troopers....chills .

I looooved this movie. Of course I was generally aware of most of the plot for this movie and obviously knew how it would end, but it served its purpose: it made me enjoy the original trilogy even more.

I though the basic things like the pacing and structure were solid, but I thought the comedy was just better suited in this movie. Just a few funny moments and a smartass droid were good for the film. I felt like TFA went just sliiiightly too far with the goofy comedic elements, but this one was at a good level.

As far as CGI, I guess I didn't notice if some of the things looked out of place (I saw it in 3D which generally makes the graphics fuzzier for me). I was too astounded at how awesome the battles were and how terrifying the AT-ATs and AT-STs were.

Saw this a few days ago and haven't been able to jump on to talk about it yet, but finally got some time. :)

Loved it. Loved every second. The tie-ins were amazing, Jyn was fucking badass, and it was such an awesome way to do a Star Wars movie with a new spin. There were a few member berries, not as many as TFA which worked for this cos' we essentially all knew the plot going in. Vader was used well, and especially in that last few minutes...hollllyyyyy shhhiieeeettttt.

This is up there with the original trilogy for me. A fucking +.

I've been reading back through this thread and a lot of people are saying that scene was put in as 'fan service'. So what if it was? It was fucking killer. Even the final shot of Leia, while risky to do it as CGI, still worked because it was so brief, and such a good nod to ANH.

I don't really think it was a 'fan service' even if it was it was bad fucking ass haha.

Neither do I, haha. I think it was just a way of showing Vader in a way we haven't seen him in any of the other movies. Blew me away how fucking great that scene was.

Yeah we never actually saw Vader like that cause in New Hope he comes out after the rebels are dead. He was legit inches away from getting the plans back from the rebels. I also liked how they basically gave a sendoff to Bail when he said he was going to return to alderaan, I was just thinking oh hes so dead. Basically all the loopholes are closed up.
