Biggest band out of my city is blink-182 haha. I'm guessing these people do the surf punk sound since we're right at the beach but all these bands sound literally exactly the same

i mean by that i mostly meant like the prominent burger records/surf rock/etc scene. just a totally different vibe from the scenes that get to the point of being even slightly above very localized compared to the ones here

yeah I never got into the local scene, mainly because with anxiety I couldn't drive and it took me awhile to be able to do general admission shows and still prefer seating, with it being Long Island in the mid 2000s I might have actually missed out though

Define Scene. Things are more centered around who you know than the music around here.

My local scene used to be great, years ago. Super diverse, really lively, and everyone from band members to fans were supportive. Then The Maine exploded and every band was just trying to replicate that. Things started getting really competitive, show attendance was going down. Then metalcore got big and I stopped paying attention entirely. We still have a few really great local bands around, I wouldn't necessarily put them in the "scene" though.

Portland's scene is pretty cool and it's neat seeing bands like Sioux Falls and Blowout getting some national attention. Also recently there has been a push for more all ages shows which is nice.

I wish I was cool enough to be part of a local scene but I'm shy and anxious and wouldn't ever. Even my town has a teeny tiny kinda scene of like 10 people and I'm still not cool enough to be apart of it haha. Local shows make me nervous cause there aren't bigger crowds to get lost in to camouflage me
