Be as that may, Faye is still only a mission dispenser/voice on the radio and so is the doctor.

 

After the first mission or two with Faye (there's a major cinematic with her at the beginning), you meet with them at the main operation base (which is where both of them and several other characters are stationed) several times to go over missions. That's where they and other major characters are stationed. That's how I remember the conversation with the Doctor about her spouse - going to talk to her after one of the major story missions. I honestly don't see the problem here haha (at least yet - I don't know what happens later on). I don't expect either of them to go out with your protag on missions. I'm only about less than halfway through the story so I can't comment on later stuff. But they're very literally the two main characters of the game that you stay in contact with regularly and meet up with from time to time. They're definitely visible, not just in voice.

 

You're leaving out the other two people whom you interact with, both white dudes. Main bad guy? White dude. Other main bad guy? White dude. 3/4th of the faction bosses and enemies? White dudes. The only true diversity in that game are within those two women and the leader of the Rikers, whom I've mentioned before is a crude stereotype. That's just one game though, you can comb through the past ten years of Ubi releases and see that trend of non-inclusiveness shine through. Ubisoft as a company, along with many others in the industry, has a problem with diversity and while what you've said about WD2 sounds promising, I'm going to take that with a grain of salt.

 

Limbo is probably the only straight platformer I like. I hate/suck at platformers in general, but I have enjoyed games that have platforming, like Mirror's Edge (2007), Tomb Raider (2013), and Alice: Madness Returns.

Does Child of Light count as a platformer?

You know what, doesn't matter. Play it anyway. I'll recommend that game every chance I get, heh.

no one's saying ubisoft is perfect and like you even say yourself the industry as a whole has a problem so to just write off and single out ubisoft for trying to tackle some different topics is.....i dont have any nice words to use.

i haven't even played these, and they're both older than ten years.

and i already pointed out how mad i am about WD2's character death, their handling and lack of inclusiveness in WD1, and AC Unity.

 

To be fair, much of that list were the side games I made a point in mentioning that's where the minority and female protagonists were cast off to. Beyond that, my point was that Ubisoft has largely been trash in inclusiveness and I'm leery to things I'm hearing about because often, gaming doesn't get those things right and I have a right to be suspicious of that. Tell you what, I'll throw the damn game in now and I'll see what this is all about.

 

I think Ubi has done a better job than most of being inclusive. No, it's not where it should be, but they're one of the few companies actually trying. Rockstar sure as hell hasn't.

 

You really need to play Sands of Time, fantastic game.

 

Yeah I'm not a big ubisoft fan, but I don't get trying to take them down over inclusivity. They are probably the best AAA studio when it comes to the matter.

 

And man do I hope that Beyond Good & Evil sequel finally happens

 

You're dismissing what I said in the post about that, let alone the list (of which not every entry was minor), and much of what I said after.

If anything, Ubi has been the best out of AAA companies (what about others?) about it. This focus on them is weird.

I also say that because it's a gosh dang nightmare to get a group set up to play multiplayer in battlefield 1 which is a tragedy because the multiplayer is great.

 

Activision is probably even worse than EA. EA at least has Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect.

I have a chip in my shoulder with them based on how they've handled the AC series. I don't dig that most of the protagonists have been male, I don't dig that the games largely has taken place in predominantly white areas of the world, I don't like that women are often treated as side characters, and I especially don't like how they handled III as a whole. That's where I stand on it and since a losing battle has taken place, I'm leaving that there and walking away. No point in dragging this out further really.

Activision is forever the worst, there is no comparison. Only they would remaster a game that everyone loves and then force it behind a $80 paywall.

its no coincidence IMO that when activision merged with blizzard wow expansions took a sharp dive in quality and pretty much ruined the mmo market.
