Rayman legends and origins are tops. can probably get them real cheap now too.

 

Whoa!! Origins and Legends, you NEED! Origins was free in August and Legends will be free on either the 16th or 17th this month, not sure. But that's for PC. Still, though!

Legends was also GWG a while ago.

For good reason. Those games are joy that has been charcoal filtered 3 times, and aged to perfection.

 

I need to get those Rayman games. I loved the first two as a kid.

 

My buddy let me borrow WD2 so I guess I'll try it and see what you're all yelling at each other for.

 

Great platformers:

Crash bandicoot, rayman, mario, banjo kazooie, sonic, ratchet and clank, and uhhhh whatever else is good

 

It does have unique discussions - the conversation the two have cover a lot of specific topics. In fact, a POC friend of mine messaged me regarding that mission to particular mention the conversation regarding the reality of black men having to change their speech in certain situations. And yeah, compared to other art forms, definitely. But compared to other games?

Nah, I disagree. Quantity doesn't mean quality. About the franchise lasting though? Yeah I am concerned, I don't see it lasting as long as AC. Definitely not the same phenomenon. I think Ubi handled WD1 very poorly.

Last point of my post still stands, tho.

 

Wolfenstein: TNO should be a Plus/GWG title just so everybody can get it and learn of the joys that come with blasting Nazis.

I was upset that the numbered series was discontinued after Rayman 3.... Still am. But Legends is also one of my favorite platformers in years.

 

Been out for a long while now, so i'm sure it's coming.

I've made my nephew die a few times by insisting he empties his clips on certain corpses, only for him to run out of ammo against those mechanazis.

Edit: Dual wielding should be in more games, and i'm obviously not an optimal uncle.....fuck, optimal uncle should have been my screen name.

I was watching a Rayman speed run marathon and it was really cool.

 

Honestly, it's hard to take themes in WD like that seriously when Ubisoft often is exclusionary to POC, women, or LGTBAQI people in their games. Look at the AC series, every single one of the main games feature primarily white male casts of characters and protagonists that are POC or female are often set aside to smaller titles. Hell, the only main game in the series with a female protagonist had to be tied in with her dopey chav brother because god forbid a female could carry the game. It's not just AC though, The Division for example has almost no POC as characters and the ones that are are either mission/loot dispensers or the black woman running the Rikers who just happens to be a hardened prisoner because of course. Now granted, I haven't played it yet and maybe it makes a good point but Ubisoft doesn't have the track record to back that up and I'm not expecting them to change it with this either.

 

Assassin's Creed 1 (Middle Eastern male)
Assassin's Creed 3 (Half white, half Native American)
Assassin's Creed Liberation (French-African female)
Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry (Black male)
Assassin's Creed Syndicate (transgender male support character, Jacob is bisexual, Evie Frye is female. And multiple female enemies, especially major ones, are treated as fairly as their male counterparts both in combat and in dress.)

Doesn't matter that a few of these are smaller titles, doesn't make the characters or their representation any less important to the franchise or to gaming/media in general.

And the next game is expected to be in Egypt.

Two of The Division's major characters are actually female and:
Faye Lau is Chinese
Dr. Kandell is not straight. She mentions her wife at one point in the game.

Black male protag (Marcus Holloway)
Indian female support character (Sitara)
Transgender female support character (Miranda)


WD1 I grant you is pretty terrible re: women/poc. And they handled the Unity co op debacle absolutely horrendously. What's even more funny is that they mentioned animation when they had already produced Liberation and were working on Syndicate. I did love Elise, though. Wish she was playable.

 

It's almost like passing judgement before looking deeper is foolish!

I started playing Dishonored today and I forgot how bad I am at stealth games. It bums me out that I know I get punished for not being stealthy too. I'm just not good at it all haha

 

I don't mean to say, "As an ethnic minority/WOC" but, obviously it's important to me in that respect as well as just enjoying most of Ubi's games. That's why it was easy for me to remember all of this. Those moments stick out to me haha.
