I listened to this in the background today while I was at work. Not a huge fan of his rap, I really only checked this one out because I love Atlanta and now he's gonna be Lando. But, I enjoyed it on first listen. "Me and Your Mama" is awesome. Really caught me off guard.

 

So apparently the vocals in Redbone aren't pitched up, according to Glover in an Australian interview lmao

 

well that's surprising and crazy hah

 

it's just falsetto and a light phaser, I don't know why people thought it was pitched up. Maybe there is a light formant shifter on it? but I doubt it.

 

The twist is that it's his real voice on California too

 

The entire album is just him mimicking instruments with his voice.

I really appreciate the experimentation on this. I just don't think there are any songs for me to really latch onto. I do really like listening to some songs but nothing that I really want to come back to too much.

 

It took me 3 months before I fell in love with BTI, so I'm taking my time with this one. YE list listening is taking precedence over this for now

 

Redbone is probably one of my favorite songs of the year

 

Looks like this will debut at #5 with 107k sold.

 

That actually makes me pretty happy that 107k only got him at #5. I'm too used to seeing the 70k number 1 debuts

I really appreciate this album from that aspect. Even if I don't listen to it that much, he was going for something new and fresh for him.

 

That video is 4 years old you know that right?

 

Yeah I know. He was saying that the project itself was just something to try and that he was gonna make mistakes but he was going to be himself. I think that is definitely still applicable to this release.
