I guess this is a unpopular opinion because I don't seem mentioned in any music thread, but I just discovered Steel Panther and they are awesome. They are an 80s hair metal parody band, but like Lonely Island they have really awesome and legit music for the genre but are really funny. Their music videos are over the top and great.


Also, missed the deftones conversation but from DE forward they have been amazing and definitely revitalized the band IMO. Not that we can forget how great and important Around the Fur and White Pony are.

 

It took me forever to get Tinashe's name down and even then I always 2nd guess myself

apparently I've been saying Rihanna wrong, apparently it rhymes with Hannah not Anna Faris

its ree-anne-a, I heard her say it when doing radio promo like I'm Rihanna and you're listening to such and such and was so confused

 

i actually knew that, i used to know a rihanna uberstan who would make sure everyone knew that

but i still say it the other way in my head by accident

ANTI is the only album hers I've heard in full. Are the others worth listening to sans singles?

ok so it turns out i was wrong to pronounce it "rye-hun-uh" i acquiesce

 

joking aside, this reminds me of the inexplicable way people pronounce "Caribbean" as "carr-uh-BEE-un" rather than "CUH-rib-bee-un" but only when talking about the pirates movies

 

I honestly think about the Caribbean thing like multiple times a month

 

At least as far as I know, the former is how it's generally pronounced outside the US.

I pronounced Neve Campbell like KneeVee for YEARS.

 

Uhh I always pronounced it as the former. I only hear it as the latter in the USA. It's not inexplicable

 

i liked most of good girl gone bad quite a bit when i first heard it.

 

I emphasize the bee in Caribbean. People are saying the other way is more of a US thing? Weird
