Wasn't Rangers in the UEFA Cup final in 2008 or 09? I don't mean them becoming Bayern Munich in a few years, I just mean them getting to the level of a club like Valencia, Villareal, Lyon, Nice, Fiorentina, Borussia Monchengladback, Porto, etc. within the next 5-10 years. I don't see how a derby "doesn't exist anymore" because one of the clubs went bankrupt and had to reorganize under a new company. The Madrid derby has been as hot as ever the last few years even if Atletico have been relegated plenty of times and gone years on being irrelevant and without winning anything.
That being said I don't really have a connection to any part of the Scottish game, but I do like seeing more countries represented in the European stage.

 

What club do you support?

 

A Scottish team won't reach that level without a LARGE amount of money and a complete overhaul of the SFA and league systems.

If Celtic can't do that, what chance do Rangers have of doing that with all the debt they've built up in the last four years? And it's not that it's not a derby, it's that it's not the Old Firm, because that term came from the dominance Celtic and the old Rangers enjoyed in Scotland. It's a Glasgow derby.

Oh cool, the Rangers/Celtic thing came up again.

 

Yup Uefa Cup final in 2008, lost to Zenit. No Scottish club are getting to that level any time soon unfortunately though. Also every body that matters (SFA, UEFA, FIFA) recognise Rangers as the same club, it's just other Scottish fans who try to convince themselves otherwise.

Target for Scottish clubs now (and by that I mean Celtic, and now Rangers) is making the CL group stages and/or a run in the Europa League, but making knock outs in the CL is a big ask now, especially now since Real Madrid, Dortmund's etc are in pot 2 and teams like City and Wolfsburg are in pot 3

The infrastructure just isn't there in Scotland the league is in danger if ending up at the level of the League of Ireland than getting back to where it was. It's just so ridiculously badly run it won't happen. Rangers being "back" won't do a thing to help that. It just means Hearts going back to their old status IF Rangers become the second best team in the league.

The Panama Papers are the best thing to ever happen ever.

Gorgeous. Love the slick overhaul leaving behind the gawdy 90s logos, even if the USSF logo is imperfect.

 

@Jeff Just checked the previous logo as I didn't know what it was, so much better. Will only ever be taken seriously by Cosmos though.

I only fear that nothing major will change, governments will sweep it under the rug and try and punish the whistleblowers. Glad to see the Iceland PM resigned though.

Seeing Messi's name, along with people linked with newFIFA, is pretty funny though.

 

Yeah, the links in football prove that so many political "overhauls" are mostly a facade.

I mean the only reason it matters Rangers are back in the league is so it works better in FIFA. On the subject of FIFA, I got PES 2016 recently and like it a lot more than FIFA.

 

Did you get the free updates they put out? I think it includes the Euro 2016 expansion

 

PES 2016 was close to being the best football game ever, but the keepers were utter fucking trash and Konami completely fucked up the squad updates.

 

Rocket League is the best football game ever.
