I could not figure out how to aim my fire spell at the barrels when fighting the behemoth on the level 15 hunt trying to get chocobo access. I still beat him, but super annoying to figure out that mechanic.

Now I'm level 22 I think. I try to build up a good bit of EXP, then travel back to the Motel to get 1.5 multiplier EXP on rest. Helps a ton. Just 300 gil.

Also I feel like playing old FF music in the car is twisting my nostalgia in knots haha. I KINDA wish there there was new specific driving music. There might be, but I don't know which song that is. Super cool option to play all the older tracks though. I also wish it was easier to scroll through songs.....

  3. I love the game so far. Story is typical so far, but I just started chapter 2. Did some hunts and side quests, but I wanted to do more story wise cause I did play the demo quite a bit in the early stages. Still, 4 and half hours in one chapter is about my speed with FF games. There's a lot to do in this, and it really is true that this is a game for fans of old and new. Worth the wait? Maybe..

It's been a long time since a game made me feel this excited about playing it. It's bringing back my old all night gaming sessions from when I was younger. This is such an incredible game, and I've barely scratched the surface of it.

  5. Yeah my gf and brothers pitched in and got me Xbox/Halo for my bday, so they wanted to play that today and I've just been itching..to...play FF...ugh. Gonna get a couple more hours in tonight before bed lol

Seriously, it's been a while since I've had this feeling. The Witcher 3 is probably the closest I've gotten to the feeling of being completely absorbed into a game since I was younger

Had more time tonight with the game. Mostly messing around with sidequests and hunts, just started chapter 2. Really like the music when in the car. Made me realize how much I actually really liked a lot of XIII's soundtrack.

Sounds like that level 22 guy is way ahead of most of us. I'm level 9 and just finished chapter 1 at 4.5 hours in. Encountered a level 30 iron giant at night as well and ran away quick haha.

I did a level 11 hunt when I was level 6 and used way too many potions to beat it. I feel like I'm getting the battle mechanics down a little bit more but for some reason I can't get the hanging warp to happen most of the time.

It's going alright so far. I've been trying to stop to pick up ingredients, treasure, etc and spent a little time fishing and playing pinball. Feels like I haven't progressed much at all in the story but the pacing is working decent so far.

I had an issue with the hanging warp too, my problem was that I didn't realize you had to hold the button until Noctis warps instead of just looking at it and tapping triangle. Once I figured that out I was getting it consistently.

I think I have a glitch, Prompto will like legit not shut up. He's talking every god damn second, sometimes going over his previous sentence with a new one. it's very annoying

I'm about to start Chapter 2 and I'm at level 10. Ran out of hunts that were actually possible to do at my current level, so, time to move on.

Anyone else get a wave of extreme anxiety whenever you get to a point in this or any game with a message like "Are you sure you want to leave? You won't be able to come back here for a while?" Because that is like the bane of my gaming existence.

Haha yeah it worried me a bit. It just tipped me off that I should probably try to do a bit more fishing and hunting.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

so im level 29 now (chapter 7) after about 15 hours of playing. One thing with basically all open world games, is I hate doing 90% of side quests. Defiantly in a game like this where majority of the side stuff seems to be your basic fetch quests. Not only do I not find them fun, but they kill the narrative for me. There is a certain amount of urgency a story like this has, and then spending hours doing random side stuff just feels out of character for me in this case (i try to role play the best I can when I play a video game).

Same thing happened when I played Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I beat the story super quickly then ended up feeling guilty about not doing any of the side quests.

This is my problem with it but I'm not nearly as far as you, just on chapter 2, but I've just decided to focus on the main quest and only do side quests if they interest me or if I end up underleveled. I just don't care about fetch quests and I never will. I'm sad that so many games seem to be going this way, ha.

and on the contrary, most of my guys are level 31 and I'm only halfway through chapter 3 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Im curious how easy the later chapters will be for you considering your high level. At the pace im going, I have the perfect amount of difficulty when it comes to fights, so I can only assume it would be a lot easier for you.

The only side stuff I have been doing are random dungeons I run into (which are so far the best part of the game) and hunts (which I only do when I need $$$$).

I don't know. I think my gear is shit because I'm struggling (although getting through) with my fetch quests when there's like, 5 level 20ish monsters and then a mob of level 18 magitek soldiers come; I usually can't get through it without Prompto dying.

Also struggled a fuckton with Deadeye because I couldn't really figure out how to 'blow up the barrels' as recommended.

Having to manually aim the magic is absolutely awful, hate how that was implemented.

The most major complaint for me is that the magic system is awful, I never use it.

I've been doing all the side quests I find, and I'm enjoying them, even simple fetch ones. This world is very immersive and nothing feels like a bore to me so far.

If used in the right moment, it can make some enemies completely useless. It just has to be used more strategically than how most games use "magic".

Agreeing with most things on this page. I really hate how anxious I get when I have a ton of sidequests, thinking I'm missing something. It's not as bad in this as it was in The Witcher (Which I had to give up on because it drove me so crazy) but I'm afraid it's going to get overwhelming. It's annoying how magic is basically a grenade, and the friendly fire is kind of a pain. I think I'm going to stick to the main story mostly, and then just do the sidequests if I'm tired and want to throw on a podcast and grind for a while.
