second point is completely fair but I think you severely underestimate the usage rate of the term "normie" in casual conversation among 18-21 yr old diy / emo / punk kids

would say that making sweeping generalizations geared mostly towards younger folks is also a symptom of being a boring asshole

I prefer when the term was "square". Quite honestly, I'd prefer if all terms that invoke a form of hyper individualism, whereby one's worth is derived from whatever commodity-driven subculture they belong to, were taken from geometric shapes. Alas, that is not the case and I'll have to live with the term "normie", because suburban white kids aren't creative when it comes to identity formation.
