I watched Triangle tonight. It wasn't scary at all, but certainly an interesting film

Nope I haven't seen that one, would you recommend it?

Absolutely. It's better if you don't know anything about it going in, but you should check it out

So what's topping everyone's Christmas horror list this year?

Gremlins tops my list. Black Christmas, Let the Right One In, Nightmare Before Christmas, Rare Exports are all there. I still haven't seen Krampus. I'll rectify that this year.

Yeah need to see Krampus. Also, I strongly recommend The Children, if you have yet to see that.

i rewatched Krampus and decided it's a new holiday classic.

Other than that, I need to watch the Gremlins movies, which I haven't seen since I was a kid. And last year I won the whole Silent Night Deadly Night series in an instagram contest, so there's five more. And I plan on renting A Christmas Horror Story

Oh and maybe The Conjuring 2 again

  13. Krampus is so so so so good. I just rewatched it over the weekend. Major Gremlins vibes, and that's also my favorite Christmas movie.

yeah Krampus was a little off-kilter tonally and with story, and i do think the PG-13 rating harmed it by preventing it from really getting its teeth in (although i'm amazed with how intense it was as PG-13), but i grabbed it blu/dvd/digital for 5 bucks from BB (and a slipcover!) and i'm very happy, especially with how many extras it has

For some reason I thought it was rated R. Huh.

nah. and although not all agree, i think it would have had acted more on its potential if it had been - trick r treat showed Dougherty knew how to use violence and gore effectively because it was independent, and Krampus feels comparatively restrained because it was more mainstream and presumably driven by studio demands for the broadest market option by a PG-13 rating. mostly conjecture going that far but seems likely

I don't agree at all. It's a family friendly horror film, which there really aren't enough of.

  18. I am pretty firmly one of those in the camp that feels Krampus works best as a PG-13 film, haha. I think the tone works perfectly and would be way more off if it was R-rated. Like, imagine Gremlins with an R-rating; cool in theory, but it would change that film's tone and audience exponentially.

I don't feel like Krampus is necessarily a "family friendly" horror flick. But I need to see it again. I remember it being very dark.

  21. Definitely dark, but the PG-13 rating is spot-on. More or less fairy tale violence, no blood or gore. Nothing most pre-teens couldn't handle.

Honestly, I remember being a bit underwhelmed by Krampus after seeing it in theaters, but I still liked it enough that I'm really looking forward to watching it again near the Christmas tree this year. I think it's one that will benefit from another watch without unfair expectations, and I can see it becoming a movie I love

I made a 5-minute horror-comedy short called Trouser Snake. It's a campy send-up to creature features of the 1950s, but with a penis monster.

Anybody see "Ratter"? Maybe not really a horror movie. Creeped me out, and made me thankful that no one would ever care enough to want to stalk me.
