I'm going to say they're gonna take it from being the Lord's day to a day you can be a rabble rouser because that makes sense even if I literally just made it up

 

It makes me wonder how many songs people expect you to listen to before it's okay to say hey, I don't like them. I've seen ppl say even one album isn't enough of a chance to give and I'm like byyyyye I don't have that kinda time to listen to something I don't like!

I def remember things like that happening in the mid 00s lol. Those bands were "emo [homophobic slurs]" and not ~real music

 

and I'll admit sometimes bands take awhile to click for me, Radiohead and Bjork for instance, but that's rare plus yeah who wants to devote all that time to a band you don't care about, I don't even do that for bands I like, like one day I just didn't listen to the White Stripes anymore no clue why

 

lol I think the last time I opened this thread, the whole thing was a bunch of people yelling at someone for not liking a band because of one song with v bad lyrics and now the conversation is the exact opposite

 

It's different though because with Radiohead you know critics love them and in general they're seen as a band that takes a while to click but with 21 pilots you can pretty immediately know you'll never want to hear it again

 

I didn't listen to just one song tho it's not the saaaame!! But tbh I couldn't care less if someone listens to one song and doesn't want to give the artist another try. With so much music out there I don't blame someone for not devoting their attention and time to something that doesn't grab them right away. I do think artists can grow on u and there's value in giving another chance, but if someone doesn't wanna do that it's their prerogative oh well! I'll typically give an artist like 3 songs and if I'm not feeling it I get bored and move on.

 

The last time I ever talked with somebody about Twenty One Pilots, my friend was saying "I know it's hipster to say, but I was a fan of 21P when Vessel came out not Blurryface" and I was like "That's not very 'hipster' of you considering how popular Vessels was/is."

It was funny.

 

I didn't like them after I heard Vessel, but my god was Blurryface complete and utter garbage

 

Also, if I wrote off artists after not liking or feeling meh about one song, I wouldn't be listening to many of my favorite artists

Same - most of my favorite bands I actively disliked at first listen

 

Yeah it's the same with me, it's really weird

 

It's rare I ever change my mind about an artist. I'm having a hard time thinking of one where I really didn't like them and then I did. I def have artists I was kinda indifferent about and then went back to and it hit me at the right time or they released another single I enjoyed, but I can't think of many that I straight up disliked and grew to enjoy. I'm sure there's some I'm forgetting tho

I'm at the point where I can usually tell if it'll grow on me even if I'm meh on it at the moment, but I definitely wasn't always like that and it was really rewarding for me to keep trying on certain artists

 

When I was in the stage of liking alternative rock, emo, and post hardcore, I didn't like pop much at all. A year later i ditch most alt rock and emo, and I end up listening to stuff like ellie and marina (and I didn't like them the year previously at all lol, actually). The past few years has been mostly many subgenres of pop/indie/edm. I don't really enjoy emo or pop punk anymore.

It's also funny because, if anything, 21P is the kind of band that hipsters make fun of for trying way too hard to appeal to that demographic and failing miserably.
