no they won't. people are pretty good at seeing through bullshit

plus, I still see it as unlikely that tiktok truly actually survives. Trump can give it a 90 day lifeline, but after that it needs to be sold

but if they just sell the US part of tiktok without the algorithm, a) no one will really trust whatever billionare buys it b) tiktok without the algorithm, and without the international users isn't really tiktok

and even if somehow they manage to sell all of tiktok... you still have problems with people not trusting the owner. So I don't really see the sale option working

Could congress unpass their bill? There are a lot of republicans opposed to tiktok and enough dems too that seems kinda unlikely, especially because they've already sorta gone all in on the "national security concern" bullshit turning a complete "nevermind" about face would probably be beyond Trump

maybe you see him agree just to not enforce the ban and turns out rule of law doesn't matter anymore so somehow everyone is okay with that. And then as soon as Trump isn't in power anymore of course suddenly the lack of a ban would be a real major issue republicans would suddenly deeply care about.
