I’ll admit, Lynch has always been a blind spot for me and I have only seen a handful of his films, but it’s still a loss that stings. An absolute singular voice. I’ve ever seen anything quite like Eraserhead.

It is stupid twice because it firstly admits the implicit bias that there are films that are supposed to be in the running and those that aren't. No one is asking if they got to all the hundreds or even thousands of films that came out this year. Secondly it is about the length of two other movies. It isn't like they are being asked to watch an entire six season show.

 

And it's like how execs hate art when there are so many people who would kill to support art financially etc

 

It's always funny when people who follow the Oscars try to mock the Golden Globes. The Golden Globes' open bribery is too far but Oscar voters nominating their friends who let their grandkids vote is an important institution.

Why should there be fewer nominees because old rich assholes are lazy pieces of shit though? It’s not like they don’t have the time.

Shit make it like those interactive videos you have to do at your job every year for bullshit “training”. Make them have to sit and watch it in an active window and they have to do a pop quiz every 40 minutes to prove they’re paying attention. They get 3/5 answers wrong, they have to restart the movie. They don’t finish all the nominees, they lose voting access that year.

 

Aren’t there like, 9000 voting members in the academy
