    Here is just one.

    England.

As you’ve dragged me into your moronic argument, highlight the part where I’ve said people don’t deserve second chances.

When everyone else is wrong and you’re the common denominator it might tell you something.

Also how could he earn it it's not given publicly? How exactly know what he did in the past 7 years , or between they did it and it got out. We are very easily make decisions on people who we don't know. And you even know him slightly.

have the victims taken part in the process? Or were they, again, basically chased off the internet by their fans. And since they aren't part of the process, why are you so hellbent on him getting a second chance without their involvement?

No one is saying he's the devil for the rest of his life. If he legitimately improved himself, dealt with his shit, maybe made amends quietly and privately with his victims, that's great. truly good for him. but again, we have heard nothing about that or seen anything. and even if we did, forgiveness and second chances doesn't mean things going back to how they were. sometimes those actions require a set of guardrails and that may mean jesse gets a job that doesn't involve playing music.

The whole, you said you wouldn't trust someone who isnt convicted just you "know" things about them.

He could have done both. But if he did the good why would it have to happen publicly?

    England.

Being mindful of someone’s past behaviour, not forgiving them and giving someone further chances are all very different things. They’re not mutually exclusive. If you look at my previous posts and what I do for a living I can assure you I am more than qualified to talk about the behaviour of people who engage in this kind of activity. Don’t claim that I am saying people shouldn’t be given second chances when I haven’t said that.

no one is saying it does? But what I am saying is that there is 0 proof that the thing YOU agree should determine whether a second chance should be on the table hasn't happened and we have no proof of it happening. So, I'm asking you again, how do you reconcile advocating for a second chance while not having any proof that it has been earned?

You are a more patient man than me, Mr. Tate. I commend you for that.

Because i believe people can change. I bet you arent stuck with your 20 years ago self. He has a family, he has a wife, they have a kid, he lost a stepson to cancer. Why would he be in the same mindset like in 2003?

Sincerely asking people to stop comparing Jesse Lacey to people who have faced consequences for their actions.

    He didn’t get charged
    He didn’t get sued
    He didn’t go to jail
    He didn’t lose his career

He got the retirement he wanted. It’s really driving me nuts that people who seem to be big fans of the band refuse to acknowledge the band hated being in the band and were going away no matter what Jesse did.

He faced not one consequence so when you talk about his path to redemption or whatever, please stop comparing and playing whataboutism to people or situations that do have consequences.

Absolutely spot on. Intervention is key.

that's not what you and I just agreed to, though. So, is it "the victims should be part of determining if a second chance is earned" or is it "i personally think he deserves a second chance"

    you can't have both

got it, so you don't care about any of this, you just want to see your favorite band live again.

I haven’t seen this much excitement in a Brand New thread since Jason’s magnum opus: The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me.

If you know, you know (apparently)

Sometimes after the exasperation, all you have left is humour.

Partly yes, well mostly. But Still don't get it why this arrangement between them have to be live streamed though

I mean at this point it’s more because of the freaks that are vehemently defending Jesse and harassing the survivors. A public display of penance would get those losers to stop

Anytime you go into R/BrandNew there are wannabe online detectives trying to find the smoking gun that proves Jesse is innocent. And along the way there is continued and countless examples of the victims being accused of lying, wanting money, blamed, slut shamed, being disregarded or minimized, etc. It's gone on for years and it didn't have to.
