Laura pays for a fantasy baseball thing that also just talks about upcoming prospects and shit for dynasty leagues and she almost always wins cuz she's the GOAT

 

I won one of my three actual leagues this year!

 

My buddy Jon’s sister took Kelce first, Tua second and Pickens third and came in 4th in the league. It literally doesn’t matter. It’s all luck.

Idk, I think it’s 65% skill 35% luck in the regular season, well built teams will usually make the playoffs, tends to average out even if they had some unlucky losses (everyone does)

but then when it changes to the playoffs and one L or starting one wrong guy ends your season, then it’s 97% luck and 3% skill lol and that’s when money is won so yeah

 

@CarpetElf called her out for "worst pick in the draft" in his super league and pretty much everything else says it was the best pick she could've made and Matt just under-ranked that player to oblivion

Not to be ~that guy~ because I know I’ve been vocal about how I don’t play or enjoy fantasy football anymore, but I’ve found spending the time I took on fantasy football in the offseason and during the season and spending that time on just enjoying football and understanding it better, or just spending that time doing literally anything else, was a nice change for me this season

 

I created the greatest fantasy football league of all time

 

knowing rosters isn't skill

you have zero control of how the players perform. it is not skill. it's guessing.

I like fantasy just cause it gives me something extra to root for in games that are meaningless to me. I don’t go crazy about it.

a good fantasy football player drafts a team that can handle an ACL tear or three and still compete

 

Cannot tell you how many hours I’ve wasted over the years listening to fantasy football podcasts, reading articles, and whatever just to find out it didn’t actually matter how much you knew. All that mattered was:

1. Do your players stay healthy?

2. Do you make roster moves?

3. Do your leaguemates not make roster moves?

4. Who plays the most people in the league who have quit playing by October?

EVERYONE is at risk of an injury, not just 1-3 players on a given roster

 

Understanding what a player’s role in the offense is matters a ton, it’s not just knowing that player is good, it’s knowing they’re gonna get used no matter what even in games that are going rough, and knowing how much the team around them benefits or disadvantages their ability to produce. That part fully is knowledge and skill. If it’s just guessing you’re not doing it right.
