The only thing my family uses our Switch for is for first-party titles, so I'm super happy with it simply being a more powerful, backwards compatible version. Everything else I play on Steam Deck or my Mac Mini.

Do you want to play new Mario and Zelda games in the future? If so, you’ll need the new console

fair enough. i'm just hoping it gives me a reason to upgrade. i'd ideally like to have the new console, but i also wanna make sure the content library and hardware is appealing enough for my own purposes to justify spending $400. fingers crossed we get some good titles. any other predictions beyond Mario Kart, Pokemon, and Metroid?

Uneducated guess - I wouldn't doubt if there was a new Donkey Kong game (finally). DK seems to have had at least a slight resurgence with the Mario movie, the DK part of the Super Nintendo World parks, etc.

I'm sure someone's uncle at Nintendo will tell us soon though.

someone pointed out that the model for DK in the Mario Kart trailer looked different, so i wouldn't be surprised if the movie aided in that and a potential new title

Nintendo is charging $60 for a 14 year old Donkey Kong port. They owe the world a new one free of charge.

Very stoked the switch comes out a few weeks after I get my March bonus at work. Probably would have to wait to buy it otherwise

Are the certain Switch games the Switch 2 won't support gonna mostly be third party ones?

think the assumption is ones that rely on the IR capabilities/certain accessory hookups from the first model's Joy-Cons

okay, based on the kart design and what we see in that video- i get the feeling Mario Kart 9 will incorporate bumper car-like mechanics (this is all based off how the karts are smacking into each other in that trailer)

what other worlds/areas are ripe for a MK course that came from Nintendo games that haven't been mined?
have we had a Pikmin course?

I do not understand the whole "but why is it the Switch 2" criticism, mostly because if this wasn't just the same system but more powerful I would be extremely upset. Like, I'm absolutely dreading the day Nintendo decides not to continue with the Switch format.

The concept of the Switch is truly the culmination of Nintendo’s gaming history, as it finally merged its console and handheld worlds.

It’s the perfect representation of what Nintendo is, and any departure from would seem to be for the sake of change rather than practical reasons.

Make it stronger, make it better, but keep the conceit

I hope we get info on new NSO offerings for Switch 2 in the April direct. Gamecube, DS, Dreamcast would all be sick.

I don’t think that’ll happen, they have never done that before, even with DS and 3DS. There might be a few stragglers that still come to Switch, but it’ll be over quick.
