want to rec David's album with Chrystabell that dropped last year, almost as experimental and mesmerizing as any of his films

god I can't believe he's actually gone now

 

Just found out and immediately came here. Was crazy busy today at work but know how admired he was on these boards. RIP to a legend. I honestly thought he had one more film or series in him fuck

 

Apparently it was shortly after relocating from the LA fire smoke which made his emphysema take a turn for the worst.

 

this is genuinely some of the worst news I've ever woken up to, and Kyle's statement fully opened the floodgates for me. feeling absolutely shattered and devastated but thankful to have spent so much of my formative years baffled, mesmerised and entertained by his work. watching The Return every week in my last year of uni was truly the most confounding and powerful experience I've had with art in my lifetime, there'll never be another like him. RIP

 

get to them in your own time of course but Lost Highway especially is absolutely masterful, it might be my dark horse favourite of his films

Such a sad day, knew his health was rough but didn’t even think about him being impacted by the fires, just devastating. Definitely cried multiple times throughout the day, no one really has influenced my art in all mediums more than him. Not just his filmmaking, even down to his book which was always in my head regarding the creative process. So glad The Return exists and that it ended on a note which will leave people theorizing for as long as humans are here to watch and discuss it. Will be grabbing some pie and coffee and watching all his stuff soon, starting with the smaller stuff/stuff I haven’t seen

 

It’s wild to me that Twin Peaks aired on ABC. I watched it on Netflix dvds (back when Netflix was all mail) and didn’t even think about where it originally aired. It’s a show that’s still hard to compare to any other show I can’t imagine having it line up with network television lol
I didn’t rewatch it before the Return, might be a good time for a full run through
