I had a doctor's appointment this morning and the woman in the waiting room with me was watching something very loud on her phone. In a matter of five minutes they said:

- God has already proven Trump won the 2020 election
- Just because Trump won does not mean it's over. God needs you to stay vigilant
- Libs have developed a biological warfare agent that can be passed to you just by touch
- Libs have not given up - they are planning an attack for January 20th - because, you guessed it, God said so

At this point I asked her to turn it down, but she was watching intently and nodding along the whole time.

 

I think it's a post-Covid thing where people have absolutely no problem in watching a video or listening to music/podcast on their phone at full volume in public spaces.

 

The full volume, no headphones phone watching and Facetime while walking around in public to me is ~~wild~~

I used to see this all the time on public transit pre-COVID. But back then, it was mostly just music. Now it's mostly YouTube videos and usually something pretty ridiculous and potentially inflammatory. I'm in Boston, so it's usually Rogan clips, a soft-brained Dave Portnoy rant, Fox News, etc.

Anecdotally, folks doing this are usually trying to bait folks and getting some sort of weird kick out of forcing their views on others.

 

My middle school/lower HS students would do this; it was infuriating.
