  3. On the eve of the fifth year of their very own music festival, The Maine took fans by surprise by sharing an unannounced album. dyed (2008 - 2023) features nine brand new tracks - pulled from the band’s past that spans their entire discography. Each new song was conceptualized from an old demo that never made a previous album - each one representing an era in the band’s career. Self-produced by vocalist John O’Callaghan, The Maine dove into their unreleased vault to record these tracks and assemble them in the form of a new compilation.

“"Revisiting the past can stir up all sorts of feelings. Nostalgia, fondness, gratitude, and on and on and on. We felt everything in between when we uncovered these songs from over the last few decades, and sincerely hope they stir up anything of the sort for you while listening!"

    - John O'Callaghan

Enjoyed my first listen, standouts were “Don’t Light the Match”, “Get It Back”, “Eight Fingers Crossed” (fits well with “Touch”), and “Until the High Wears Off”.

Haven’t listened yet but that reads as though these weren’t exactly b sides that are getting released now rather they took old ideas and made new songs similar to what the wonder years did with brakeless and out on my feet. Am I getting that right?

They’re definitely closer to the S/T style, but some of them do harken back to previous eras.

Holy shit I don’t know what I expected this to be but a full album drop was not it. I love this band

Yeah I wouldn’t be mad if any of these came on while listening to the band on shuffle.

    New songs are vibin' hard.

The last album is by far my favorite of theirs (didn't think they'd top LLL, but they did). Only complaint about the S/T was it was too short, so these NINE new tracks are very welcomed!

Cool how they made this feel like its own album and not a collection of demos/b-sides

500 vinyl gonna be available at their pop up tomorrow. I’m guessing after the weekend there’ll be another variant available in their webstore

The first three songs, Blue, can’t help myself and the closer are all so good.

    Can’t stop listening this morning.

I really appreciate that they treated their “left overs” with such care and thoughtfulness. It’s still their artwork and this shows they really care about it.

Other bands should take notice to this concept.

Yeah, this is awesome. At first, I was a bit disappointed to hear that they weren’t actual B-sides, as I would do anything to hear more of that LLL sound. Overall, though, it feels very much like a ‘night album’—one you could put on late in the evening and fall asleep to.

It’s such a vibe and very well executed.

It continues to amaze me how they evolve their sound. Every album sounds fresh, but it's still The Maine at its heart.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

So this is a compilation album of them finishing up songs that they had floating around since the early aughts?
A lot of these are really really great. And if this is them clearing out all of the remainder of their old ideas they've been working on, I'm so interested to see what they do next with an entirely clean slate of ideas. The old Maine is dead I guess!
