I know Ewers makes some truly ass plays but I do think the hate he gets is a bit much. He has some GORGEOUS throws in his arsenal and a lot of teams would be lucky to have him

He just also makes the dumbest throws possible 5 minutes later that makes you question why you ever had any hope

But I do think people need to acknowledge that it's more nuanced than it looks (but also Matt is right that he'd likely earn much more from the NIL than he will in the NFL)

 

People like Tom Brady, Dan Prescott, Russell Wilson, etc etc etc have done irreparable harm to future QBs bank accounts now that NIL is a thing lol

I get it's your dream to play in the NFL and everyone wants to bet on themselves and their talent, but sheesh $8 million

 

For reference Anthony Richardson got taken 4th overall and makes 8.5. I guess I get it in a way since he can't go back to Texas so he'd be taking a risk betting on himself

 

To help reference too, Quinn Ewers is projected for round 2-3 and could VERY well fall farther. Round 2's max pay is 10 million but it's very likely he ends up with around 6 million or less

And that's for ALL years, not just 1

 

Yeah that's what makes me get it, he'd likely be hurting his draft stock even more to go another year and then he likely ends up with an Ehlinger deal

 

Ewers also has a decent brand in general, people who don't watch him will like him and I see him getting a bit of endorsement shit going on in the NFL
