I think this is still a lock for best original screenplay, and I think Mikey still has a chance at best actress. But yeah BP is looking less likely now.

Also, this SONG is so fucking good and used perfectly in the film

 

Finally watched this last night, thought it was great but it still might be my bottom Baker film, some incredible shots and Igor was a treasure! Also I love the use of the side actors from his previous works.

 

Also I forgot how much I love Where The Hood At

 

Loved this, best comedy I've seen in a while. Very glad I saw it in cinema with a good crowd.

People have been particularly insane about this movie in a way I just do not understand at all

 

Music twitter is the only thing keeping me on that hellsite.

 

Im not on Twitter and have no idea what people are saying about this fantastic movie but the Absurdist Twitter thread is the best thread on this site.

 

They’re calling the film anti-sex worker and I guess that the CC cover objectifies her. It’s just so exhausting at this point

 

I think it shows someone who is insecure about being labeled a prostitute. So, there is a negativity to it. But I found her reaction to being labeled as such is because it was always said about her in a negative way. I don’t think she is portrayed as someone who hates being a sex worker.

She is naked a lot. But I feel like it made sense to have it that way. I can certainly understand why someone could say it objectifies her. Various people in the film do. But I think she is aware and uses it to her advantage.

 

There is this knock against Baker for portraying marginalized people and/or communities, but what are they suggesting is the alternative? Not to portray these people at all?

 

Do people think that if a person from a marginalise group isnt portrayed as morally and intellectually pure that is a slight against their group?
