while I understand that for legal reasons he has to specify the laws in action, but I find it hilarious that he is claiming to not be a "criminal" pedophile, leaving the door open that he's a pedophile who doesn't break any laws

    This is pretty crazy

  5. Strictly speaking Kendrick never called anyone paedophiles. 'I hear you like 'em young' and 'probably A minor' include plausible deniability; we know and have video evidence of Aubrey having been weird on stage with fans (and the Millie Bobby Brown thing); jumping off Baka Not Nice's 'weird case' is... yeah, it's valid! Sucks to suck!

  7. Sure, it's the language of a rap beef but I view that line in the context of wondering about that 'weird case'. I feel like there's been smoke around Drake for years. It's very... like, I get it, he didn't have to go there but Aubrey was on some whole other shit about his fiancée and the whole thing smacked of 'don't start none, won't be none'.

It's telling he's only going after the unavoidable mega hit song and pretending "Meet the Grahams" never even happened as that in my opinion, was clearly the way more damning one. Out of everything in the lyrics of that one - his only takeaway was "Where is my daughter LOL"

  10. He's got enough plausible deniability this won't actually be anything for Kendrick to worry about, at least.

I’m not a legal expert, but supposedly “defamation” is a difficult thing to prove. I feel like UMG can maybe just… find the thousands of posts of people highlighting Drake’s weird interactions with underage women on twitter and IG and TikTok that would crop up for years prior to Not Like Us, say that those posts were common knowledge (public and widely understood) and that NLU just played off of the discourse, and that they promoted the song as they would any other song generating buzz online by one of their artists. If Family Matters had blown up, is it less defamatory than NLU?

I really can’t wait for the day when Kendrick can be brought up without having to talk about Drake. Not putting that on any of you, just in general. Obviously the lawsuit is going to keep that going.

  12. Exactly, there is evidence out there that Drake's inappropriety with underage women is a recurring issue. It's not the proof that Kendrick needs, sure, but it is something that's constantly cropped up and extrapolations have been made from that. Making allegations of domestic violence in a vaccuum on the other hand...

I don’t think the allegations against Kendrick are “in a vacuum”. He’s defended abusers and allowed them to guest feature in his music for his entire career, and then there’s that video from 2015 where the radio host brings up allegations of him committing violence against women and he denies them but it isn’t all that convincing. My hot take is that Drake and Kendrick are probably both terrible people

I've been following Dot since around 2011 and the hard rock allegation is the only one I've ever seen pop up and it's usually because it gets brought back up and does the rounds but there's nothing to really make it stick. I won't deny that he's had some features (and career help) from people with checkered pasts as well as flat out abusers like Kodak, however, Drake's allegations have always seemed to have plenty of meat on the bone and that call-out from a peer has been building for a while. I've seen enough to say Drake is most likely a horrible person, but I'm not sure there's been anything substantial to put Kendrick in the same conversation

defamation is difficult to prove because it isn't a black and white thing of they did say something or did not. you have to prove that the act materially harmed the person's reputation, which is subjective to the judge, of course. it is not subjective that Kendrick called drake a pedophile lol. be serious.

I’m not saying Drake is not a joke, but this lawsuit is actually quite interesting and maybe valid, and Drake is one of a few artists that are big enough to give this a real try. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting it. Industry rule 4080, record company people are shady.
