Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

I gave up beer for lent but had 3 Stars' Southern Belle Imperial Brown Ale waiting for me at the end. Probably my favorite DC brewery.

Nice. Let me know how it is. I have a 12-15 that I'm saving for a vertical this fall (to couple with a 16).

Very nice! I really liked it. A little boozy with some soy sauce character to start, but it settled into a surprisingly easy drinker. I think you'll enjoy it come fall.

I still have two 13's, three 14's, and four 15's. I try to have one of each vintage every year until I run out, but I've been slacking this year.

you get some up near Philly. But you also get some Russian River there, too. So no jealousy ;)

White Oak Jai Alai is legit. It's such a great treatment on the original. Totally different flavor, but it's still similar at the same time? If that makes any sense ha.

Just brewed my first beer yesterday with my gf who has some brewing experience. Made an oaked IPA. Gonna be dry hopped as well. Anybody here brew?

Anyone ever had 5 Barrels IPA by Odell Brewers? Its an American IPA I had last night. £4.80 a bottle, but absolutely lovely. Also had an IPA called Raging Bitch, which was alright but nothing special.

I've seen a few people in here mention they brew. I'm about to dry hop my first attempt this weekend and then bottle the week after. I went with a double IPA and I really hope it turns out alright, ha.

I brew, have been for around 2.5 years. I usually try to brew once or twice a month, whenever I get a free weekend day.

True... We do get a fair amount of Russian River up here. I'm also 2 hours from Dogfish Head, and they do a lot of events and stuff up our way.

I've brewed a handful of times. My schedule and apartment living doesn't afford me the opportunity to brew much, though.

Picking up a Perrin - No Rules today. Pretty excited, hope the hype is worth it.

I also drank a Prairie Bomb yesterday and wow I can't believe how good it was.

It absolutely does in my opinion. I did a pretty big selection of stouts/porters over the course of a week or so last year (Hunahpu, Dark Lord, KBS, BCBS, and many others, but definitely some heavy hitters in there), and No Rules was far and away my favorite of the bunch. I have one coming from my cousin soon.

I've brewed super infrequently over the last 5 or so years (I think less than 10 batches) but I want to start brewing more often. Just purchased 6 pounds of hops to try to force myself to do that. Planning on making a bunch of NE style IPAs and pale ales this spring/summer.

I must say I enjoyed it. Hopefully it comes out drinkable lol Its something ive been meaning to get into for a long time. I went to culinary school and sometimes cook "professionally" so its long overdue. Living across the street from a hop and wine shop is going to be dangerous on my bank account.

    Hello,

Been drinking these beers as it warms up,

    Grapefruit Scuplin
    Citrusinensis

Any other good recs for summer/ spring beer?

It can definitely be a little hit or miss sometimes. I've had beers where I thought I did everything right but then they'd end up not fermenting. I recently made my first sour and I think pretty much everything that could have gone wrong during the brewing process did, but it still turned out pretty nice. I'm sure you'll be fine with that kind of experience though. It's really just cleaning/sanitizing more than anything else.

I don't really like watermelon as a food in general, so I'm out for that one

I've never had that particular watermelon beer, but I'll second the Hell or High Watermelon love. It's nothing amazing, but it's super refreshing and tasty.

  24. I've had Hooker watermelon ale and did not like it. First sip was okay, but was way too light from that point onward.
