If the interactive part of a game is bad, then the game is bad. A lot of people don't realize this. lol

RDR2's open world is the best ever created. The design of its campaign missions are garbage. Classic Rockstar.

I feel like I do wanna say I few words about Hyper Light Breaker.



First things first, I definitely stopped playing after an hour because even though I was having a blast, it is not ready, almost to an embarrassing degree given the amount of development time that went into this.

Just like Hyper Light Drifter, Breaker is rather obtuse at first. While there's some light tutorialization, you're basically thrown into the first map and are then left to figure out most of the stuff on your own.

The gameplay loop is fairly straight forward. You fight, mostly using melee skills, you traverse the map (you get both a hoverboard and a glider from the get go!) to find upgrades and resources and then you attempt to fight a few mini bosses so you get strong enough to fight the main boss of the current seed.

The combat is complex enough, with your regular melee, a gun of sorts, a special attack, parry and of course your trusty dodge. It's very precise and once you get the hang of the telegraphing fairly easy to read and precise (though I am not going to lie, I got my shit pushed in quite a few times in the beginning). There's a light souls-like influence here for sure, down to targeting enemies by clicking the right stick. All the different swords feel distinct, the guns are fun -- I really enjoyed it.



I can't speak much to the meta game of actually upgrading and what not, since, I'm gonna be honest, even the times I survived long enough, I had no resources to bring home to speak of. Skill issue, git gud, etc.

That said, the game is rough. It includes almost no settings of a technical nature, like, this sounds like hyperbole but you can't even change mouse sensitivity (on the other hand, fully customizable controller controls)... that said, on my computer, it ran like a dream. I actually had to cap the FPS (again, using an outside tool since no settings) and held a steady 60fps.
(Steam deck averages at 15fps even on the lowest settings according to first reports so don't even try.)

Unless you want to support the cause, I'd hold back on a purchase, even though I do find the Mostly Negative it sits at on Steam right now massively overblown. Hades 2 really fucked up the notion of what one can expect of an Early Access game and it's kind of frustrating that small and clearly struggling teams are now held up the same standard as a studio like Supergiant games, but that's a conversation for another day.

Finally decided to give Horizon another try. I started it when I first got my PS5, but got distracted by another game. I’ll start it over and commit to it. I really liked what I played of it. The new remastered edition is downloading now. Gosh, games take forever to download…

 

Finally started playing prince of persia. Really enjoying it so far. A lot of parry heavy systems I can't really get into for some reason -- often either its too hard to get the timing right and its too hard or its just unnecessary and you can button mash your way to victory and the parry and dodge are there just as a way to stunt -- but for whatever reason this one works. Parry feels kinda broken with how easy it can make some fights but then you realize it's supposed to be broken because you're supposed to be this unstoppable badass.

 

I can't afford a new SSD right now, but it sure would be nice. someone who is good at disk space help me budget this my family is dying

I fucking love The Room games and if you like them, I also recommend The House Of Da Vinci.

I feel like by the time it’s worth paying what they’re asking for it, it’ll no longer be an issue.

 

The thing you have to understand is that it's an unfinished game that will be finished at a later date.

On the other hand, there's no real guarantee that it will actually be finished.
