I agree with you too. Definitely a lot of flaw with RBY. I much prefer FRLG when it comes to gen 1.

I’m curious to see how I feel when I finally get to the next few gens. Idk if I wanna play Ruby or Emerald, or if I was to play Alpha Sapphire instead. I fear my Ruby version may be corrupt or the clock system doesn’t work anymore so I could just play Emerald on my emulator, but I prefer the physical/special split that AS will have that Emerald won’t

Yeah I'd emulate Alpha Sapphire or something, it's fun and (most of) the bonus stuff won't appear until game is cleared anyway

I'm doing my first Black/White playthrough right now (in PokeMMO) and I kinda think it might be overrated

The Pokemon are cool and I like the battle design as a whole but the plot is a drag to get through even for Pokemon standards. Not as bad as gens 8+9 or anything but still boring.

 

Our homiest of homies @JRShoenberger hooked me up a couple years ago with his 2DS and Alpha Sapphire, as well as a handful of other Pokémon games so no need to emulate for me :3

Black is perhaps the one I’m most looking forward to revisiting (as well as Diamond). I never finished either of those games and, at the time, did not enjoy them, but I think that was my nostalgia taking over so I’m excited to dive in fresh
