To be fair, the model Microsoft seems to be moving towards is really the same as Valve (as in putting out hardware that runs your platform and games, but also having both available on other hardware) but on like a more mainstream scale. People love it when Valve does it.

I'm kinda pissed that this forum has no problem banning threads on bands with problematic members, but Dan can just waltz in here and go "hey guys I am playing the Nazi guy's game, can't wait for the sequel" and no one bats a fucking eye.
The second time this happened, too.

Well if it's both then it kind of muddies the issue, doesn't it? If they get a cut from a third-party game on Windows, don't they get that without taking that hardware loss? If that's the case, then I understand why they'd chase that audience.

I mean, there are a ton of album threads still existing about bands with problematic members that don't get touched, so I'm not sure anyone is very strongly out to punish anyone for bringing up something problematic.

    @JoshIsMediocre, thoughts?

Also, totally thought the mention of having each other blocked was a joke like xkaylinh and Nate, not that I don't understand the reason for it being true, because (gestures wildly).

I think I’m missing some context re: nazi guy’s game but as far as I’m aware the only band that doesn’t have a thread is Brand New and that’s because people can’t be normal about them.

There’s plenty of problematic artists/art that get discussed here, everyone has their own line to draw. Consuming media made by problematic people doesn’t mean you share those beliefs.

@mescalineeyes feel free to DM, seriously. I know this thread can get heated sometimes but I haven’t always followed it

I’m not heated just disappointed. Thank you so much for the invitation to discuss this in private but I’ll just mald for an afternoon then move on.

This was a cool materialist/leftist look at video games that also had some pretty wild stories from the industry sprinkled in that I had not heard before. Some of my favorites -

    - Steve Bannon apparently was involved in WoW gold farming schemes prior to Breitbart
    - a war between wealthy whales and normal players in Eve Online
    - a game called Lose/Lose that permanently deletes files on your computer when you kill enemies

  9. platforming in Afterimage improved significantly upon acquiring double-jump. not sure about the story yet bc honestly i'm spending way too much time exploring the map--it's way too big!

I'm finding that Have a Nice Death has a lot of weapon/spell variety, which is really exciting. also i seem to have unlocked easy mode? not complaining, i actually managed to get pretty far with it on.

I wanted to set like a personal goal for games to beat this year and I think my goal is going to be 8 games that were previously released and like hopefully 2 new ones this year.

basically 10 lmao but it gives me a lot of wiggle room

Cyberpunk is really good so far. My one issue is it seems a little on the easy side…I am playing on hard and have done dozens of missions and police scanners with just an auto pistol, just hoarding talent points and cyberware for later. I should have gotten it on PC because the movement mechanics seem like they can get insanely fun but on the controller I am not quite as smooth.

Thought this was worth a share here. Incarnated men are helping fight the LA fires and apparently they have access to a PS4 at the facility they are staying in and only have a couple of games currently. The facility is accepting donations for more, figured some people in here may have some old ones they never use.

Kinda movies, kinda video games; I've been playing Cine2Nerdle battles after watching a Northern Lion stream and this is so fun!

  22. Finally gave Lies of P a go and I’m hooked. I went with a Technique/Dex build and just been whooping puppet asses with the glaive you pick up early on. The early to early-mid game (just beat Eldest Black Rabbit) hasn’t been too difficult but I suspect things will pick up soon.

PLAYERS LOG SECRET SANTA EDITION: Dredge

I rolled credits on Dredge last night but I think I'm going to keep playing this for a long time. This is an incredible, satisfying game to play. I didn't roll credits until around 200+ days on my run because I found myself mindlessly going out to collect and see what all I could find. This game combines elements of simple gathering, collection, sanity management, and so much more in a way that if I tried to describe it probably wouldn't sound fun, and yet it is.

I loved the character design, it's one of my favorite parts of the game. The ominous feeling of the world you're navigating comes largely from the characters and your interactions with them. The art design itself contributes a lot to this feeling too, making each interaction feel a bit more jarring than it would otherwise, and creating a great contrast between the cute looks of the boat and some of the common fish, and the creepiness of the attacking monsters and the aberrations found.

I did the DLCs just by virtue of wanting to find things to do. The Pale Reach was pretty enjoyable, the lore of the area felt very creepy and interesting. The gameplay did feel a bit "more of the same" though, which isn't a negative but isn't really a positive. I imagine if I paid for the DLC after beating the game, I might be more disappointed, but I wasn't. I LOVED The Iron Rig though. The mutations added to the fish and the scientist plot added an extra sense of dread to what was being uncovered by the Ironhaven Company. The quality of life upgrades added through The Iron Rig were very welcome as well.

I can't believe I waited so long to play this game and I'm so grateful @noxee got it for me. It's nice to have a game like this, a short game that is very straightforward but has tons of depth (ayy) and can be played on and off for a long time just due to how enjoyable it is to play and how much extra there is to do and collect. This being the first game I played in 2025 has created a high bar for other games to reach.
