New My Morning Jacket track dropped yesterday. Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra apparently helped write which has gotta be a cool milestone for him given he’s a fan.

Early MO? please share more there. I don’t really hear it until Simple Math & beyond but knew about his fandom during METN tour since Andy wore MMJ merch on stage

Check out a cool young band that I'm just discovering and geeking out on. Worth your while if you like when MMJ lean into the spacey side of their sound. They also seem like a bunch of fun goofs based on some of the things they've done to promote album releases.

somehow I missed this news, but they have a new album coming out in March produced by Brendan O'Brien. apparently they scrapped an album they were working on and started over with new sessions with him. I cannot wait

 

March hasn’t officially been announced yet but there was a magazine article last month suggesting that’s when it comes out. Curious to see what O’Brien does with them. Also really really hope that “Arent We One” single from last fall was a one-off and isn’t on the record lol

 

yeah, sorry - not officially announced, but there was that article that mentions a March release and apparently Jim James said it on stage recently as well.

I also definitely hope that one doesn't make the cut haha

Not sure if you’re being serious but as I think that info leaked out I bet they just haven’t set the title yet. But I think you’re kidding

this album had zero staying power with me at all and when I revisited it recently I thought it was pretty boring. cautiously optimistic for this new one.

 

I don’t find it boring per se but I agree Jim’s songwriting is kinda flat and has been getting more that way for me really from Circuital on, with just a couple exceptions here and there. That being said, I thought the band made the songs on the s/t a lot more interesting, especially live. There are some really awesome parts of most songs on here. I’m gonna like the new record (they are still my favorite band) but I don’t expect it to be dramatically different.

They remain a must-see live act though every time you can. The four shows I saw in Nov 2023 were incredibly good

 

still no title yet but folks we are really getting Jason Isbell and My Morning Jacket album rollouts in the same week lol. when I say the lord has been good to me…

it says Jan 15 when you pre-save, presumably single at midnight tmrw

 

Looks like first single is “Time Waited” and it’s out tomorrow

 

Anyone in Australia or New Zealand get to hear this yet, or is it still too early for that...???

 

Just took a trip down under and it seems like the song will premiere everywhere at the same time tomorrow morning

 

I have a growing hunch that we don’t get album announcement tomorrow actually but hope I’m wrong
