Not yet. I only ever watched DBZ growing up and never saw Super. I’m slowly making my way through Super and then I’ll probably check out Daima.

Batman already exists in the DCU and they’ve shown him. Gunn said they added more silhouette because he wasn’t settled on the look and stuff yet. Could he still be talking about a future Pattinson? Sure. But I don’t get why anyone would want that? Reeves obviously had a plan for his trilogy. Gunn obviously had a plan for The Brave and the Bold. It makes no sense to cancel TBATB and fold it into the Reeves universe. Elseworlds exists for a reason.

I’m also not interested in a Batman film directed by Andy Muschietti after seeing the Flash. I didn’t like how any of the Batman were handled in that film.

An animated Batman that appeared for a few seconds can always be retconned for the greater good

Gunn does not seem like the kind of person that would want to do that. He’s talked about it happening for the show because he’s excited about it.

Why not just have two Batmen? It’s not that big of a deal and people can handle it. There is no reason to completely diminish both plans for their movies just to make one movie easier for people.

I already said it in here before and got yelled at, but I don’t think Andy Muschietti will be the director by the time that movie enter productions. And I’m not saying it’ll be any bad reasons, but he’ll probably just move on to make other stuff.

    We can only hope.

(Though also, I don’t mind studios making choices that make it easier to skip some of these cape movies, lol.)

I disagree that it's impossible to have one Batman without compromising anyone's vision, but I also have no problem with two Batmen.

I mean the dude making the movies said he didn’t want it to get too fantastical. The DCU is already well beyond that. The Batman also existed before the DCU and was always planned to be a trilogy. How could combining them not compromise on the original vision when they conflict with what the director has said?

I’d love to see Reeves go all out with the crazy stuff, but not if that isn’t what he wants to do. That’s the only point I’m trying to make.

  10. I like the idea of the DCU jumping back and forth in the timeline, we can have Reeves trilogy and just say other Bats appearances take place in the future. It already doesn't make sense that our supposed introduction to Supergirl is Woman of Tomorrow where she's already very much established as a superhero

Isn’t Krypto with her in that story though? I haven’t read it, so genuine question.

And she has to show up in Superman. There’s no way. lol

  12. i can't remember if Krypto's in it but if he is he's not really integral to the story.

but liek, Lobo isn't in the book either but apparently he's in the movie

It isn't that hard to parse. I'm suggesting that Reeves makes the films he wants to make and then other people connect them with the DCU. Am I not making sense?

No, I got you. But it doesn’t change the fact that it goes against Reeves wanting his own trilogy thing. Just like I don’t want Bale as the DCU Batman, I don’t want Pattinson. Let them be their own thing. Letting Reeves have his trilogy then being “oh well now we’re gonna use your universe however we want” is kinda lame imo. If he never said anything about how he wants his universe to exist, this would be a different discussion.

But it’s just my opinion. I’m not saying you’re wrong or anything. I’m just trying to explain myself.

I get it, I guess if he doesn't want other people to play with his toys, that's a perfectly valid perspective. And of course I'm sure if Patterson wasn't game, that's also valid.

But in the end it doesn’t even matter, I just want to see all the toys played with too. If they combine them then fuck it. Not going to stop me from being seated. Saw BvS on opening day for Christ sake. It can only go up from here.

Reeves’ take on Gotham has been my favorite of all the cinematic attempts. I’d gladly welcome that as the DCU Gotham.

It would allow more films to be set within it.

One of the things I really hate about this is if Gunn wants all these established heroes to have existed, even with a time jump it makes Reeves' Gotham feel fake, or not within that world. Like what is the point of crime bosses like Falcone is theyre are big kaiju's running around in Metropolis.

Do crime bosses like Falcone not have a point in the comics then?

No, that's not the point I was trying to make if it came off that way. I guess my feeling is more like it makes Reeves' world feel less realistic if all that stuff is going down in other areas of the world.

Less realistic in what sense? Of course it’s less realistic in the sense that these fantastical elements don’t exist in the real world, but I don’t see why the crime world of The Batman and The Penguin couldn’t exist while those other things are happening elsewhere.

I don't want to be too dismissive because I do understand the point being made, but there is nothing realistic about Batman mainly because a person that rich is more likely to be the source of crime than a vigilante.

I don’t think it’s really a discussion on whether the stuff can fit in. It obviously can. But it’s whether it should tie in. And as I said multiple times, the dude that made the Reeves universe, Matt Reeves, said he wanted the world to border on fantastical but not cross it. He said that in the last year. Putting his world in the DCU goes against that. I don’t get what’s hard to get about that.

The part where it's unclear if he'd be okay with other people doing it as long as it isn't him.
