Kansas City would still be in Missouri and that would give it St Joseph which it can have because that place is a Hell hole so it’s a win win for Missouri

I lived in Florida for 10 years and I don’t think anyone ever actually said “Gulf of Mexico” when speaking an out it. Everybody would just say the Gulf. What kind of toddler thinks it needs renamed?

    *Sorry rant incoming*

I'm trying to see the silver lining in that a lot of people since the election have come to realize, based on Trump's proclamations since election day, that they have been duped.

One thing the Republican party has always done well is that they're a major propaganda machine and they've been able to deceive people for decades, and it's so successful in part because the establishment Dems have failed miserably as an opposition against it. This is also where the gutting of the education system comes into play. These people are being lied to, and because the education system in American is in such disarray, they can't really see that they're being conned.

There are obviously some people that are way too far gone at this point, so there's really no point to focus on them, but there is still a large faction of people that I'm sure most of us in here know IRL that we believe to be fairly rationale people (who voted for Trump) that there is still hope for. I've been reading a lot lately on how to talk to people with different political views (Republicans) and the power of really educating these people on how they've been conned. If there's one thing that resonates with all of us it's that nobody likes being made into a fool or someone who's been deceived, and there's been really good success with that approach in opening up people's minds. It takes time, but it's a much better alternative than just ridiculing these people and telling them how shitty they are for voting that way because they just get defensive and shut down

I’ve lost all hope for Trump voters, Christian ones in particular. They are truly lost.

I felt this way last time Trump was president. I just can't feel it anymore. I've tried having good, rational conversations with Trump supporters. I've tried avoiding politics entirely with family members who won't shut up about them. They can't help themselves. It always comes back to whatever garbage Trump or Fox News is telling them to be mad about on any given day. I just don't have the energy for it anymore.

The only real hope that I have is that the new admin will be so incompetent that they won't be able to do too much damage, or that more people will open their eyes to the power imbalances in our institutions, but that's a pretty weak hope.

And that's perfectly valid! It's probably a bit of a coping mechanism for me at this point so I don't spiral, but I'm just trying to see that silver lining, and hope that repeatedly planting those seeds in Republicans minds that they've been conned will stick at some point.

To your second paragraph, and I've said this before, I think what Luigi **allegedly** did has really shown that most of us do have a lot of common ground. It goes hand in hand imo, showing these people that they've been conned and also showing them that we do have a lot in common, it's just getting them to point that resentment in the right direction now.

Santa Anas are supposed to be bugging out today with gusts up to 60mph. Stay safe all my fellow classic SoCal surfer dudes. Don't park under any trees. Hoping my Fiat doesn't blow off the freeway on my way home.

I've also been reading more on Reagan's backstory and how his presidency was run. I knew about all of the terrible policies and whatnot he enacted but never did a deep dive into him personally, and it's pretty wild to see the dead-on similarities between him and Trump and their presidencies. Both basically being puppets to the people they surround themselves with. History truly repeating itself

I’m not even mad at Trump voters, really. Give people a worthwhile option if you want to change their minds. That hasn’t happened three times, at least we got “lucky” you might say one of those times. HOF batting average.

Agree with this 1000000000000000% too. Show people there's an alternative. The American people are starving for change and the best the Dems could offer was Brat
