Don’t lovvvvve the title, but i like the aesthetic and the reference points she’s listing (Cheever, Thomas Mann, Basinski).

"Produced by Grammy Award winner Blake Mills, the record sees front-woman and songwriter Michelle Zauner pull back from the bright extroversion that defined its predecessor Jubilee to examine the darker waves that roil within, the moody, fecund field of melancholy, long held to be the psychic state of poets on the verge of inspiration. The result is an artistic statement of purpose: a mature, intricate, contemplative work that conjures the romantic thrill of a gothic novel."

    yeah here for that

Between New Jbrekkie and new Destroyer all coming soon, 2025 is shaping up good for me maybe listening to indie rock again.

He’s teasing it on IG, and a friend of a friend who works for Merge told us that it’s called ‘Dan’s Boogie’, will be released in Feb, and has a strong trip-hop influence. Obviously idk if that’s true, but if it is, all of that sounds excellent to me.

In terms of indie music we have JBREKKIE, Blondshell, Samia , Julien Baker and Torres, Beach Bunny and Destroyer all dropping album announcements this month or soon and Ethel Cain’s album out on Wednesday. Already looking like a very promising year for music.
