Can't decide if the best Trudeau moment was when Xi sonned him at the G20 or when he led the Canadian parliament in a standing ovation for a Nazi war vet

  6. It's fun to go back to Oct 7th in this thread and see who was liking posts calling Palestinians freedom fighters in the first minutes after, but then as soon as the hasbara machine gets going everyone has to be like well Hamas also bad. hope we've learned

lol you were and are a deeply unserious person because you have a long established habit of misrepresenting what is being said to try and make yourself look better/right, like you’re doing right now actually. I called you deeply unserious for insinuating the Democratic Party hadn’t changed at all from 1992 to today and yes I do indeed stand by that comment.

  12. You wrote a made-up stump speech directed towards people who were worried about voting for the party because of it's stance on Gaza, and in that speech you implied that the Democratic Party wants Israel to stop it's operations in Gaza. Is that a misrepresentation? Do you think that is or was ever true?

  13. Remember that Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk - Biden appointees - encouraged Israel to invade Lebanon and that Anthony Blinken has made absolutely zero public comment about Israel occupying Christian holy sites in Syria. If you think the Democratic Party secretly disagrees with Netanyahu while supporting everything he does to the hilt and encouraging him to go even farther, the burden of proof is on you.

Ah an empty gesture that will be easily undone. Sounds about right for Biden.

I was saying what I would say if I were campaigning as/for a Dem candidate to try and convince people why the should vote for me/them if they have reservations about Gaza, yes. And yes I do think many in the Dem party would like Israel to stop its operations—especially those that lost their races because of it! Biden seems ideologically committed to Israel, but a lot of others whose elections depended on it I would bet are not/would prefer to still have their jobs.

But that’s neither here nor there because you once again misrepresented what was said and why to try and go for a dunk, which is a pattern with you and which is why I called you a deeply unserious person at the time, saying I think half the time you’re trolling and thus not serious. And now that that’s been pointed out, you are pivoting to a different point about Dems/israel.

  23. There was a parallel conversation about whether voting for Democrats pushes them to the left. Your argument was that the party's changes since '92 represent proof that that has already happened. I didn't respond particularly seriously to that because it seems true on face value that the institution of the democratic party is as hostile to the left as it's ever been. That is a different conversation though and I don't think it's misrepresenting anything to leave that part out.

    Here's the relevant conversation:

    Your fake stump speech included:

Do you agree that the obvious implication of this sentence is that Biden and the democratic leadership were engaged in that multi-month process to "get them to stop" at the time? Or were ever interested in seriously engaging in that process? If that's not the obvious implication, why include that line at all? If you agree that that's the implication, wasn't it a lie?

  24. Democrats have essentially identified "marginalized groups" with "oppressed identities" as a constituency. That doesn't mean they've moved particularly to the left. The two leftmost national policies implemented by Democrats since 92 are Mitt Romney's healthcare plan and the Manchin-neutered BBB/IRA, which didn't make a dent in the wealth transfer that occurred because of the pandemic.
