I could see Deryck be a producer and songwriter/working with other bands and acts seem he has his own recording studio but I also see Deryck going solo and going down the singer/songwriter route with him writing and performing every instrument and self producing his solo material and as for performing live.. because of his recent health issues I could see him do an limited amount of dates seem he's a husband and father and doesn't want to be on the road full time and away from his family.

Come back after you read the book and see how you feel. Deryck is, in my opinion at least, super honest about his alcoholism and takes accountability for all his actions because of it.

Stevo (allegedly) never took any accountability even in the end and from the sounds of it - was also an alcoholic but with anger issues so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lol

Yeah see my take is he can be being super honest about it and also be wrong. He's got real unreliable narrator vibes. I've got no doubt that stevo was acting like a **** but I reckon Deryck wasn't (maybe isn't?) that easy to get along with

Everyone is the hero in their own story.

That said I haven't read the book yet (but it's on my Christmas list) so I'll avoid drawing conclusions.

Man, I'm almost done with Deryck's book now and I hate Greig Nori so fucking much, what a complete and utter piece of shit that guy is

Definitely making Stevo out to be a real asshole too, I just finished the part where he left

Is this really the end for them ? I"ve read the book, but cone comes off pretty bad as well, seems like he sided with STEVO

Well, cone stayed with the band through everything. Must have been okay.

Yeah, Deryck said that they worked their issues out in the end but Stevo was pretty much a total asshole the entire time and continued to be one even after he left the band.

I remember Deryck recounting how Alt Press was doing a career retrospective on the band (this was 2 years after Stevo quit and after the near death experience Deryck had) and they reached out to Stevo who declined to comment and then he reached out to Deryck saying he wanted to talk. Deryck thought it would be cordial and said when he first got on the phone he asked about Stevo’s new son but Stevo interrupted him screaming “why would I take part in the article when I have nothing good to say about being in the fucking band!” and then berated Deryck about how he always knew he would end up in the hospital and that it was “so fucking obvious that it would happen” and then hung up on him.

Stevo sounds like the absolute worst and I’m glad they didn’t bring him back once Dave returned. I unsubscribed to his YouTube channel after hearing all this - dude sucks big time.

I find this interesting as there was a definitely a drop in quality after Brownsound left after Chuck.

Honestly, after finishing the book, I believe that they're done for good even less than I did before lol. Deryck barely even justifies the decision (just saying that it felt right basically), and this comes pretty soon after a chapter where he described stepping back on stage after his health issues and writing songs about his experience as where he truly belonged

The book was really amazing though, I feel like it contextualized their music so much. Deryck genuinely is a very interesting guy

read the book if you wanna know more, it goes into personal dealings, friendships, relationships, label issues, there was a lot of contributing factors of why those later albums weren't as good. he even admits to the flops, etc.

Let me tell you something - this is the best album of their entire career! no doubt about it. Also, if they don't make another record its a disgrace. The world needs this band.

It definitely won’t be a popular take but the only two records post-Chuck that I enjoy are Screaming Bloody Murder (incredibly underrated and one of their best) and 13 Voices.

I never liked Underclass, Order in Decline is decent but I never return to it, and Heaven & Hell is half killer half filler for sure. It also has the worst cover of the band’s discography lol

Always thought it was funny how after Chuck, and especially after UH, it seemed people were really clamoring for them to return to their metal sound. So then they do on the next three albums and those ones are often last on people's rankings. The old magic is difficult to recapture, I guess.

Yeah, I mean I think people wanted a return to the metal sound AND the songs to be amazing again
