There’s a full on compendium app for WoT and a really good summary website (dragonmount) if you ever need refreshers

Yeah for sure. I’m reading it with some reading buddies who are rereading the series so I’m glad to have some vets along for the ride. I’m not too worried about slogs especially if I’m invested.

The second book poses the question of what would happen on a planet where their Adam and Eve hasn’t “fallen” yet to the temptation of the devil.

as a big fan of Lewis, I actually really don’t like the space trilogy and think most of it is quite bad.

This is the year I go heavy into Suneater, Robin Hobb, and Discworld.

Btw anyone been reading the Ending Fire trilogy by Sara El-Arifi? I need to pick up the last book because the first two were fire. I also picked up Faebound by her randomly because I love this series so much.

Also diving into Bloodsworn trilogy from John Gwynne after I finish DCC book 7. Much reading to do.

I just realized I never officially thanked my person - I was at work for a few days when it came in. I actually had this book on hold with C/W MARS and was waiting for it to get shipped from somewhere way out in Western Mass. so thank you very much! I am very excited to be diving into the Moontide Quartet now

Hey that works out nicely! (That was from me.) I'm glad you're excited about it. I had a tough time picking from a few different options for you, but that book in particular looked really great, so hopefully you enjoy it and I'm excited to hear what you think.

For 2025 I am definitely going to get into the Dungeon Crawler Carl series (IE read them all unless I hate the 1st and I already started it a while ago and liked it so I think it'll hook me).

I also want to read some Warhammer 40k stuff since it's being adapted... any pointers on where to begin with that behemoth of a universe? I know there's other places to look for that too.

I will at least reread the last couple of sun eaters before the final book and I'll re-read Will of the Many as well since that got so bonkers and wild / confusing at the end.

Other than those though, with having been so invested and re-reading Sanderson this year, I want new new new and to keep re-reads at a minimum.

My 25 for 25! Most, if not all, are books that I’ve had on the shelf in forever and wanna get to. Currently reading Michael J Sullivan and it’s great!

I’m a pretty staunch Kramer/Reading hater so I started with Rosamund Pike’s narration and holy hell she’s great. I’m gonna be pretty upset when I have to switch to Kramer/Reading starting on book 5. At the rate they’re doing the Pike recordings we still have another 10 years until it’s complete lol

  13. Been away for a minute, but these are perfect for me. Was rereading Joe Hill's Twentieth Century Ghosts, and wanted a novel of his. Hyped to jump into The Ferryman, too; never heard of it! Thank you to my person!

That was me, hope you enjoy them. I assume a lot of people send the first book in a series so I kind of went the opposite direction and gave you 2 standalone novels. The author of the ferryman wrote a post apocalyptic vampire/zombie trilogy called The Passage that is pretty sweet too.

Thanks to my person. I kind of forgot about this new James SA Corey series so I’m excited to see how this one turns out. The Expanse was a really fun series. And I was not expecting to receive a Steinbeck novel haha but I’m also excited to read that. I’m not very familiar with that title but I enjoy Steinbeck. Thanks again!

Triple post, who cares! How do you all feel about rereading a series when there are other series out there that you haven’t read? I often find myself wanting to reread Dark Tower or Malazan, but then I think about all the other stuff I haven’t read, and I psych myself out from doing a reread.

If others want to read or re-read Malazan would ppl be interested in a Discord/SMS book club?
As for re-reads, there are only a handful of series that I'd read, whether it's for nostalgia reasons, or they're complex/obtuse enough on first read to reveal additional information upon re-read (e.g. Book of the New Sun, Malazan, etc.)

I'd normally say yes to this but I'm not sure i'd get to Malazan this year. I might but I don't want to commit :(

Id do a malazan group read (1st timer tho - started but didnt progress far, but its a staple of the genre that deserves my honest efforts and with wheel of time, the whole realm of the elderlings, and stormlight (almost) completed, i know i can handle large and complex series).

  20. theagentcoma

    yeah good okay Prestigious

Oh man brings back memories of when I tried to do a Malazan Book Club on Goodreads. We somehow finished the first book but gave up on the second. I would love to do a Malazan re-read but the reason I haven't is the same reason I didn't do a Stormlight re-read prior to W&T. There is too much out there that I want to read still before retreading old paths. Probably a silly mental block, but it is what it is

    not champ Prestigious

i stopped reading malazan halfway through but loved what i did read (and have not gone back yet because i'd of course need to start again from the beginning) so yes if there was a malazan reread i'd jump in

I think you have to do it sometimes! Some series are just too good. I totally feel what you mean, but even so, sometimes it’s just worth revisiting favorites.

I know Malazan will be so much better on a reread and want to get back to it at some point for sure.
