You're not wrong. It had too many RAW elements...some rando tags and 6-man matches to fill time. The "takeover of TBS" was weak...when their actually killing Rampage would have been interesting had they done it a couple weeks early (genuinely shocking to cut a TV show for 2-3 weeks).

I can why you have issues with it even if I don’t agree. Marina was non existent before this angle and Claudio/Yuta aren’t stars. PAC wasn’t even there tonight. The angle would definitely be stronger if the group has more believable muscle.

 

I'll actually agree with Drew here about the Death Riders stuff. I don't think any of it has clicked and the faction takeover storyline is tired. I would have loved any of the other three to have won.

 

It’s a six man with Rated FTR and Mox/Yuta/Claudio. I assume Copeland/Mox might be saved for a few weeks down the line.

 

I assume Rated FTR is just a temporary feud to get to something else. Someone like Darby or Osperay will be the one to dethrone Mox. It’s honestly a bit weird having Copeland be the one to defend AEW from Mox lol

 

Yeah they teased Christian during that match for a reason. That is what Copeland is going to do after Mox.

 

Oh shit, I didnt realize he was hospitalized. I didnt watch for like 2-3 weeks while I was traveling around that time.

Honestly, biggest disconnect is a takeover storyline while you hold an entirely orderly 2-3 match a night tournament, with zero interference, to crown what Mox surely sees as a vanity championship.

I got zero problem with it because we got so much good stuff from it...but probably Claudio shouldnt have been in it and/or there should have been way more Death Rider fuckery.

 

But the in-PPV and PPV->TV storyline work from AEW has been way better the last few months, this PPV set up honestly the next year of stories if they want, and they're now back to the too many stars problem, cause what do you do with Hobbes and Statlander and OC and hell, even MJF, to not have them all just fade into the background for the next couple of months.

 

Christian tries to cash in when Mox/Copeland happens. Causes Copeland to lose and Christian ends up eating the pin to Mox. Sets up Copeland/Christian. That is where this is heading.

I hate this booking most of all; Christian won a STACKED gaunlet. AEW doesnt have MITB, this is basically their first one I can remember. Cant have it go the Baron Corbin way.

Also, depending on how long that main event went (if its under 25mins), that Mercedes/Stat match wasnt just the longest womens match ever by 5mins, it was the longest match on the card by 5mins

 

It didn't click for me that Fight For The Fallen in Asheville is going to be a benefit show for North Carolina hurricane victims that is why FTR is prominently featured on the card.

 

Loved the show, meh on the main event but so many great matches other than that. Prob will tune in for Weds.

 

Looking forward to everything on Max. Will be much easier to watch Dynamite/Collision on demand if I can’t watch it live. Also glad I can watch it live on the west coast. Seems archaic that the west coast feeds are still delayed on cable.

 

Oh and I guess Copeland lives in Asheville too

 

Haven’t watched AEW in probably like a year and a half but you’re right. Corbin should come in and they should give him all the belts

 

Speaking of. Prob doesn’t mean anything since they’re local but AEW already has enough big guys that Baron would get lost.

 

Switchblade hitting the Blade Runner on Marina was gauging fan reaction for when Constable Thomas (or perhaps Marquis de Thomas if he wants that UK gentry heat for going French nobility) could come in post-Wrestle Dynasty and hit Mercedes with The Last Rites and claim the TBS title, NJPW Strong title, and RevPro belts.

While true, you dont hire him as anything other than a solid mid-card enhancement hand. Funny enough, he's also why you hire Ricochet (or a Christian for that matter). Worst case, they're a good foil to 2-3 characters you want to build. Best case, they've been so wasted at their former company you dont realize they can buoy entire stories and divisions.

I'd also pay a hilarious amount of money for Ricochet to hire Corbin as his manager and have them both be shit heels the way Ricochet is going.

Top Dolla being there for anything other than a hilarious Ricochet backstage promo to clown on Swerve though, would be a HUGE mistake.
