Hell yeah. Raised my credit score enough to get a pre-approval for a car from my bank which is a tough cookie about lending to folks without perfect credit

9% APR isn’t GREAT but it gives me a bargaining chip at least so the dealer can’t just come at me and be like 16% APR is all we can do :( :( :( (secretly dollar signs in their eyes)

instead I can pretend I haven’t made a financing decision yet until we agree on a price and then be like “well actually I did get pre-approved and they’re offering me 9% for 60 months so if you want money from the financing as well you’ll have to do a lot better - I trust my bank even at a similar rate”

smart to go to your bank first. The dealership will run the deal through the big banks (chase, PNC, etc) plus the manufacturer (ford credit for example). If your credit isn’t great you could get denied by all of them.

My credit score’s gone up a lot this year now that I’ve paid off a lot of vehicle related debts and started using and paying off a credit card regularly. I must have finally gotten into the range where people actually lend to me again lol
