I hate how few actual coaches get a chance in the NHL

seemingly is the same 35-40 guys just recycled

 

Yeah the NHL feels like the last league to think outside of the box/the NHL for head coaches. Surely there’s a bunch of talented coaches in Europe or other leagues but the same 40 recycled coaches get hired.

 

A few weeks ago, after a life time of basically never missing a game, I told myself I wouldn't waste my time watching until Lalonde was fired. Excited to watch some Red Wings hockey tomorrow.

 

Normally I’d agree about recycled coaches but we’ve tried twice now to hire assistants that didn’t have head coaching experience and they’ve both been ass lol

 

definitely fair

its just so funny seeing some of these guys on their 4th and 5th teams. MacLellan, Deboer, Hynes, Laviolette, Tortorella, etc

granted, some of them have had success later on, but still.

 

Torts is an asshole but hard to argue that he hasn’t gotten the most out of some of these teams he’s led the past 10 yrs or so

we had actual zone entry and rushes tonight. People booing that are stupid. A single game, and we actually showed more life and competency than we have in forever. Score doesn’t reflect it but there’s already a small sign of improvement.

also it’s wild to see a coach talk to the players again instead of having 5 assistants do it for him
