Caught the flu over the last couple days so it’s been a lame Christmas and this would’ve been cool to see

 

Really enjoyed this, and the 10:30am showing was packed

 

Yeah my 12:15 showing was also surprisingly full

 

My 10:05am showing was basically full minus the first two rows. I checked the other showtimes at that theater, out of curiosity this morning, and the other 5 showings throughout today were the same.

I kept thinking how it felt like his most accessible film without really taking anything away. If that makes sense to anyone else? Haha

 

Yeah I loved this too. Not sure if that’s just Skarsgard manipulating his voice or if they added some effects in post but he sounds so creepy.

 

Kinda let down by this. Monster was great but everything else was just boring. Idk. Maybe I’ll change my thoughts upon reflection but my initial feeling is this is like, a full step below his other 3

 

Nah I didn't find it boring at all lol, I think it especially find its perfect groove about midway through until the end

Thought it was great, loved Orlock and Ellen especially. It's subtle while not at the same time weirdly, but it's very haunting in a great way. Loved the way Orlock looked too.

 

Also ATJ is Bad in this

Emma Corrin has nothing to do

not scary enough to be scary, not quite occulty enough to be interesting in that regard. Just felt pretty shallow

 

I do love Ralph though

 

Will agree that i thought ATJ not great here. Loved everyone else though and it goes without saying but especially Bill and Lily

 

ATJ was pretty good for me, idk nothing really jumped out to me as bad with him. Corrin you’re totally right about. She had like two or three scenes but had no chance to really shine. ATJ served his purpose well enough for me though. Hoult, Depp, and Dafoe were firing on all cylinders. I forget who it was but the guy that played Orlok’s familiar killed it too. He had some of the most memorable moments in this for me.

 

Yea ATJ fulfilled the role of the character perfectly well, I'd say you have more of an issue with the character archetype (because it is a fairly standard one) than ATJ at that point, which sure whatever floats your boat but I thought it was fine

Uh alright I wasn't trying to come off badly there, I do apologize for that if it came off more dismissive than I meant it to be. I thought by saying "I'd say" it would infer that it's my opinion and not trying to say it's objective fact or anything, just carrying on conversation lol

Saw this yesterday and I loved it. Eggers is such a master of cinematic dread. Loved the monochrome style and the use of shadows throughout.

 

The mustache was a choice but lovedddd everything else.

 

Thought this rocked, liked everyone in it, Bobby Eggs did it again

Thomas' arrival at the castle/his first meeting w Orlok was fucking crazy arresting in IMAX

 

The mustache was the best choice.
