Especially since we’ll get the Clayface origin before anyone in the bat family is even introduced in the DCU.

But will Batman be in it?

That basically confirms it’s Tudyk then.

He voices Clayface in Creature Commandos, he was announced as the VA of Clayface randomly by the trades a couple of weeks before the movie was announced, and Gunn said from the beginning he wants actors to be in both mediums. Hence why we have Frank Grillo in Creature Commandos and in Superman next year. Why would the trades make a big announcement of his casting for a guest role in an animated show? So all we really needed was confirmation that the movie was going to be in the DCU.

I’d be willing to bet that Alan Tudyk will not play Clayface in live action, regardless of what Gunn has said.

I don’t have anything to bet, but I’ll take you up on it. Lol

The best kind of bet, in my opinion

Didn't Gunn also say that bit animated parts wouldn't necessarily dictate who plays what in live action?

I think you might be right. But that still brings me back to the trades reporting his casting for the DCU. Why do that for a side character in an animated series that already started, when he already voiced the character in the non-DCU Harley Quinn show, and it happened that close to a movie for that character being announced?

edit: I’m probably wrong but I don’t even remember the reporting of his casting mentioning Creature Commandos.

I might have my info and timeline messed up about the casting announcement because I’m high all the time and forget stuff, and now I can’t find the article. But I did find this article I forgot about, which is more evidence for my case.

Rumored to be Kelex, which I don’t like the casting of, if only because I already associate him to a robot in a different universe.

It’s kind of both overall. But In this case, Clayface, it doesn’t seem like it would apply.

Absolutely no clue what universe you could be talking about, but I’d probably be stoked for the 2nd season that’s going to feature that character, if I did.

The cherry is that he had to clarify specifically because of Alan Tudyk, the guy we're discussing right. now.

Now I am brainstorming other DC villains I want a fresh take on in the DCCU.

I want The Ventriloquist if they do The Penguin season 2. A meek nerdy guy born into a mafia family who develops dissociative identity disorder after witnessing his mother get murdered by a rival crime family. He copes by gaining a fascination with puppetry, and creates a puppet with the personality of a ruthless cunning criminal that he isn't, that he then uses to take over the criminal underworld. That would be a cool idea to explore.

Seems to be a similar case to Sgt Rock. Daniel Craig didn’t voice him in Creature Commandos, but he’s attached to star in the movie.

I loved the BTAS adaptation of the Ventriloquist in that Arnold legitimately wanted to get help for his condition. I always like villains more when there's a sense you want to root for them too, in some way.

What I was thinking of was said before that post where he said they were doing it, but what you posted was a clarification I had not seen.
