Teams like Indiana who are in-betweeners are WHY it’s a 12 team playoff. If you didn’t expect some bad games in round 1 I dunno what to tell you

 

I think if SMU upsets Penn State the argument isn’t “the SEC team with a 9-3 record of your choice should be in”, it’s “Miami at 10-2 should’ve been in” considering the whole conference thing, imo.

I’m a certified lifelong B10 hater and them going 0-3 in the first round (and 0-1 in the quarters) would bring me joy for a lot of obvious reasons. I don’t see it happening, but it could. Should this happen, I do think strength of conference will get reevaluated higher as a benchmark metric than it was this year.

Any power 5 team going 11-1 before a conference championship game is going to get in, and specifically 10-2 is probably the SEC benchmark/or the biggest brands in the B10. Think we can say that for certain now. Indiana won’t be the last surprise team like this over the next few years with these mega conferences. And them even having a shot is cool as hell. Indiana and SMU being in the first expanded CFP and not Alabama and Michigan is gonna be cool pub trivia in thirty years.

 

I’m good with SMU being in. It was Indiana that didn’t pass my smell test.

I’ve said this before, but 12 team playoff is diluted. Four team playoff was even diluted based on blowouts. That said, it’s good for fans who want to watch college football, but let’s not pretend all these teams are championship worthy.

 

Isn’t March madness and Cinderella teams something everyone loves? Why not give teams a chance in cfb?

 

because they don’t result in competitive games? I think it’s a lot easier for a Cinderella story to happen in NCAAB where the difference in talent for five guys on the court is much less than the difference in talent between 22 guys on the field. If there were a higher percentage of competitive games, I would be more likely to enjoy them.

 

We have a sample size of literally one right now for the CFP12.

 

But we have 13(?) years of 4team playoffs consisting of largely uncompetitive games. 12 dilutes it further.

At the end of the day, I’ll take crappy football over no football

 

I’ll take more good football over the usual lower end bowl games that would be on today. The first round of the CFP playoffs and a top notch NFL doubleheader at the same time is a football fans dream. We are spoiled today.

 

What the fuck, SMU/Penn State is on TBS/TNT/Max? I’m shocked ESPN and/or the major networks didn’t scoop up all the playoff games.
