I brought this up because I just found out a celebrity is going to stay at the sister property of the hotel I work for, and in bright red letters is the disclaimer that they prefer to be called Sir and not Mr. So-and-So.

I always feel self-conscious when people call me sir, so I have to imagine anyone who goes out of their way to have people call them Sir is a real asshole.

A couple of my students worked at this antiquarian book fair in Boston the first week of November, and they saved the catalog with all the items and what they sold for because they thought I'd find it interesting and gave it to me as a gift yesterday. Genuinely really thoughtful.

That will never happen.

Usually about two months into the school year a kid will discover them. They really like to tell me there is one of me shirtless at the beach, one of me shooting a gun, and one of me flashing a gang sign.

Feel like that's making the opposite point to the one you want. Normal people don't speak like madlibs so tetra not speaking like them isn't exceptional

 

I think the funniest thing a student has ever did is that they told everyone they were going to make a shirt with my picture on it and my catch phrase that year, which was when the bell rang I said "don't get captured" from The Wire. She ended up making about 200 dollars and then dropped out of school to take virtual classes and never had the shirts made. Students were mad at me like I had something to do with it.
