    I’m going for

    - 1500 words/day on Garden Knight 3 until it’s done (probably day 20)
    - 250+ words/day on another project until GK3 is done (probably these two dark fantasy short stories, but maybe Frostlands, an MG fantasy-adventure)

    Then:
    - 1000 words/day on short stories
    - 750 words/day on Frostlands

That’ll give me 52,500 words for the month, which will be a personal record; I’ll finish GK3, which is huge; 12,500 words specifically dedicated to the short stories, which is enough to finish one and get halfway on the other; and 7,500 words on Frostlands, which will about double what I’ve written on that so far and will get me back into the swing of things for that book.

Also a bunch of outlining and worldbuilding and revising, but that’s just for fun, lol.

I realized NaNo started at 1:30 this morning and went “oops, guess I’m not doing that”

I've written a few pages so far, nothing too substantial. Not holding myself to any rule besides try to squeeze in some time every day

Just passed 60,000 words for my kids novel. I’m about 3/4 of the way done now. Trying to hammer it out by New Years, but we’ll see.

Slowly getting to the finish line for my first kid/YA novel. Just reached 70,000 words. I should be done around the 85,000 word mark. I think that’s a good length for a book aimed for that audience.

Super exciting! Way to go dude. Yeah, that seems like the right wordcount target to me as well.

that's fantastic! congrats on almost reaching the end. are you planning on submitting to any specific presses, or looking for an agent? or thinking of self-publishing?

my own project was derailed for the last two months by some personal things happening in my life that took priority. I managed to write about 20 pages but I'm trying to keep it going. it has been hard for me to feel motivated. dealing with a lot of imposter syndrome lately, to be perfectly honest.

Not self publishing. I’ve got a list of publishers and agents that have experience with the genre of book I’m writing, but we’ll see. I’ve contacted an employee for penguin books who creates book covers to create one for mine. That alone is going to cost me $500 but it’s well worth it.

When I was between the 20,000-40,000 word count for my book I was honestly only writing once every couple weeks because of imposter syndrome which made me slack. I was also stuck on how to progress the book naturally so I spent about a year thinking of where to go with it. Now I’ve written 40,000+ words in about 4 months.

I also spent the first half of this year reading a couple books a month and that put me in the groove.

I have to ask, what's the value you'll get out of having a book cover if you're going to be querying agents and publishers?

It’s more of like a back up. I don’t want to self-publish, but if it comes to that I already have the contact and the cost. I’m also just interested in getting some covers done. The person sends up to 3 options for $500. If I get published then I would love to frame the covers I plan on paying for at least. It’s a win/win imo

    yeah good okay Prestigious

For all you published friends, I'll be creating my Amazon/Goodreads author accounts very soon. Any tips/advice?

I also need to create a website, so if anyone has a good suggestions for sites with templates, let me know! I've heard both wix and wordpress are good.

I should update mine. Been a few years lol. No advice really. Probably just keep the author bio brief and include a linktree or something like that/your top 3 pubs.

inspired by books like the road and the dog stars. Always wanted to write something in the vein of my favorite post apocalyptic reads!
