That boss was the most annoying lol. Especially to help people fight

Its shame too because I love the run to get down to the Putrescent Knight, and the look of the boss is one of my favorites in the dlc. Fight was not my favorite but I do love the putrescent cleaver. The L2 is crazy good at stun locking.

What the fuck is this? A standalone multiplayer roguelike? It looks really fun but it’s also not Elden Ring. The vibe is off

I don’t really know how to feel about it. More Elden Ring content is sick, but also not really into roguelikes or multiplayer, hope they designed it so you can still play solo. Lore implications from this are wild too. Clearly implying DS/BB/ER are all at least connected somehow.

Or maybe it's not lore related and they're just trying to make a funner game by mixing and matching a variety of monsters to fight.

I'm going to guess that this is not being designed for solo play and if you approach it that way, you might be disappointed.

Or I'm completely wrong. Who knows!

Nothing is cannon if Miyazaki isn’t personally directing it (in my opinion). It says it takes place in a parallel world so I think it’s safe to say it’s not cannon anyway

it sounds fun. Wild that they’re still not implementing voice chat or even text chat in a specifically online multiplayer game. Says you can play solo, which is good.

I love roguelikes, this sounds like it’s very much my shit but 45 minute runs is kind of a bummer (only 15 minute days). Let me go for hours if I can survive it

There's been a longstanding theory that Elden Ring is the world Gael's niece(?) paints at the end of the Ringed City DLC. Has that been disproved? I imagine it's a stretch in the first place but it'd make some of the appearances make sense if they are canon.

oh yeah no clue lol I was just guessing based on one watch through of the trailer when I was half awake this morning

Just watched fightincowboy's stream about it and that really cleared things up for me

Now that I'm done thinking about "WTF NAMELESS KING" I'm looking at the other bosses we've seen in the trailer and they look wild. The basilisk-esque humanoid in particular has me puzzled

The score for this game is excellent, I love how somber the Scadu Altus theme is

I just beat the Nameless King last night in my DS3 playthrough. Maybe the most exciting and challenging fight in the game for me so far. I was struggling for a while with my dodge timing an direction, committing to only dodging right and forward which was screwing me up. Eventually realized I needed to pull back and give him space to combo which I haven't had to do for pretty much any other boss in the base game. Also started to vary my dodge direction and that seemed to work great at getting him to completely miss me even if my timing sucks with his delays. Feels like a precursor to how they handled most of the big ER bosses and I loved it once it clicked.

I’ve been using a lightning great katana recently and it’s almost too strong lol. That said, it was satisfying beating the shit out of a few bosses that had been giving me a hard time. I don’t know why I struggle so much with knights.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

Almost at the end of my DS3 grind. Worked my way through lots of endgame/DLC stuff this weekend, most of which was hitting a wall at Sister Friede for a couple hours, finishing up the Ringed City, setting up the Midir fight, and actually fighting Gael. Friede was one of my least favorite fights in the game. 3 phases is fine but 3 entire health bars and constant chip damage from frz/dark/magic turned it into a game of making my 15 estus + 1 divine blessing last as long as possible. Unsatisfying win in the end. Gael is a whole other story for me. Any frustration here was due to my own mistakes. My go-to ultra great sword was perfect for this fight. Felt extremely fair and adaptable even if he has a pretty hefty pool of hp. Once you get his delayed dodge timing in phase 1 and can bait his big jump or glowing thrust attack it becomes a breeze. The great sword dodge R1 spin attack turned out to be the perfect counter for pretty much this entire fight. I was a bit overwhelmed in his 2nd and 3rd phases due to how much bullshit is happening on screen at once but past that I found that its very similar to the first phase with some added ranged attacks. The lightning never posed much of a threat to me. Eventually got the memo with how to avoid almost every move here outside of his crazy jumping/spinning combos. Big highlight of the game for me. Probably overall best boss here if I had to choose one. Nameless King is a close second.

The 3 health bars didn't bother me much because phase 2 is a complete freebie (stand behind Ariandel and blow him up, then when Friede warps away hit her to stop the healing). Phase 1 is really really easy once you get certain details down and then that leaves phase 3 as the really difficult to navigate phase.

Midir wore me out though but after SL1 I have discovered that was entirely a skill issue by me and not the fight actually taking too long
