I kid I had a delightful conversation with Randall on Sunday

 

The only time I've flown Spirit was out of DFW, 2 nonstop roundtrip tickets to Seattle was like $350

Allegiant does super cheap direct flights too but they only go to Vegas, Orlando and Destin, FL

 

I remember flying to Orlando on spirit for like 40 bucks round trip in 2018. Better times.

Yeah my Spirit flights to Los Angeles used to be like $50, it was the clunkiest flight of my life but it was nice to save money

well I just checked Allegiant and they only have a schedule for next summer

 

The entire point of this tour is to pre-build up hype for our record and I’m kinda stoked on how I strategized it.

One single is coming out before the tour, proof of concept, people will have something to reference before the show. I’m gonna post a clip of it with some video content in event pages and city music scene Facebook groups and targeted IG story ads for each city so we get a few people listening ahead of time. Also gonna make a TikTok and just spam 15 second clips of those songs on it.

then we play an awesome show with awesome support bands who I’ve made sure are big enough to rely on to draw at least a handful of people in the winter. Our stage energy and musicianship is our best selling point so that’s where I hope to really hook the majority of people in the building - it’s been a long time since I’ve played a show where the audience wasn’t stoked, but there’s a big difference between “stoked that night” and “still thinking about the show a week later and telling their friends they saw an awesome band they never heard of before”, the latter is the bar I’m chasing.

then a second single comes out after they just saw us and that’s how we’re gonna start getting monthly streaming listeners in several different cities and also how we’re gonna get in the regular rotation of people’s social media, instead of the algorithm burying our posts because there was no follow-up engagement. I’m gonna push hard to follow us on Spotify/Apple Music or Bandcamp so they get an update when new music is dropped.

Then only a few months later, the album drops. I’m trying to release on record store day 2025 (which hilariously also falls on 4/20) and have a bigger tour that hits all those same cities plus some others at the same time. Punk Black will be sponsoring the tour and posting our shit everywhere and getting us much wider reach. Lofty goal but I’m hoping our first pressing of the record (100, MAYBE 200) sells out on that tour and in regional record stores.

if this doesn’t do shit then maybe it’s time to start really looking at music as just a hobby, I’m almost 35. But I feel pretty confident that I’m gonna give myself the best shot of turning this into a real side hustle and getting actual media coverage and being featured on playlists. Wouldn’t be doing all this if I didn’t think our music was unique and thought-out enough to stand out in a sea of over-saturated releases, so hopefully other people agree and that part speaks for itself.
