The best RB of the last 5 years is probably Bijan. Which makes my point even stronger because the view of it being Bijan or bust was instantly proven wrong by Jahmyr Gibbs being better with more backfield competition.

It was one thing when Melvin Gordon and Jonathan Taylor got 2400-2500 rushing yards in Wisconsin, in a historically good rushing program behind very good offensive lines but this is something else

 

I take Jeanty at 8 all day he’s BPA

 

Very curious what Jeanty’s yards above expected or whatever is cause a LOT of his long runs were not simply blocked that way and all he had to do was run straight. He’s very often doing it the hard way

 

Sanders did it in 11 games. Jeanty will do it in 14. Jeanty is currently 4th. Melvin Gordon is 2nd. Kevin Smith is 3rd.

 

Yes, in the sense that Wisconsin regularly played NFL players on the opposite DL. Boise State has not.

 

Jeanty is good but whoever takes him at 8 will probably need to NAIL their next pick because whoever gets RB2, 3, even 4 later, will likely leave with the better draft. See - Atlanta vs. Detroit again

deep down I don’t think you’d actually argue it’s easier for Jeanty to do this on Boise State than it was for Melvin to do it behind a Wisconsin line stacked with quality NFL talent

 

That Wisconsin line churned out 1 draft pick. But also yes, it is easier when you're playing significantly weaker competition nearly every week.

 

Lot of assumptions I don’t subscribe to in this take. For starters nah Barkley > Bijan, in college and the NFL

let’s also factor in the fact that Gibbs runs behind by far the best offensive line in the NFL. To me that’s inflating the whole Lions offense lol teams usually can’t just run 80% of the time like they do and Goff is playing his best ball too cause they cover up his worst flaw, being awful at adjusting his decision making to be faster OR moving in the pocket when under pressure

beyond that I’d say with less pressure to carry the offense, and less pressure to carry the running game, and more weapons around him to take further pressure off, Gibbs sees a better situation on a per-down basis than Bijan does

a lot of this shit is highly situational and that’s why Jeanty sideways-breaking a million tackles behind Boise State’s line matters a lot more to me than Melvin Gordon running in direct downhill lines with Moses parting the seas for him

 

Kinda a moot point when your offensive line is “weaker competition” too and you’re basically the only reason your team is ranked and competitive

 

Barkley is in his 7th year.

Gibbs runs behind a great run blocking line. the Falcons also have a great run blocking line.

 

Neither of these things are true.

 

And I’m still saying Penn State Barkley was better than Texas Bijan
